1023 RES PRESENTED TO CITY COUNCIL FROM LAMAR COUNTY MODIFIED AUTOMOBILE ASSN LEASE OF STRIP OF LANDRESOLUTION NO, 1023 .
WHEREAS, there was presented to the City Council prior to this
date a reques t from the Lamar County Modified Automobile Association,
to lease a strip of land approximately one (1) mile in length, on the East
Side of the South Fork of Lake C rook; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Paris, W. A. Cawthon, re-
ferred such request to a committee of the City Council, composed of
Hayden Stripla nd, C hairman, and C. L. Walker and E. L. Anderson,
Members, for study and report upon the desirability and feasibility of
such lease; and,
WHEREAS, the Gommittee has reported to the CityCouncil, on
this the 19th day of September, A. D., 1962, which report recommends
the lease for a term of five (5) years, with an option to renew for an
additional five (5) years, of the property involved, with some eleven (11)
reservations and provisions contai.ned in such report; and,
WHEREAS, the eleven (11) provisions contai.ned in such report
dated September 17, 1962, are felt by the City Council to be necessary
for the safety and protecti.on of specta.tors and participants in the or der-
ly conduct of a drag strip; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that same will not
divert any portion of Lake Crook for its origi.nally intended use, that is
as a water reservoir for the Gity of Paris; NOW, THEREFOREg
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARISs That the City Manager, H. C. Kennemer, be, and he is heroby
authorized to enter into a lease for a term of five (5) years from the
da.te of the lease, with an option for renewal for an additional five (5)
years, said lease to contain the substance of all eleven (11) requirements
and recommendations conta.ined in the Committee's report. That the
Gity Clerk, H. G. Greene, be authorized and directed to attest said
lease as City Clerk of the City of Paris.
