1005 RES ELECTION WAS HELD BY QUALIFIED VOTERS OF COP ON 3RD DAY OF APRIL 1962RESOLUTION NO. 1005 .
WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified voters of the City of
Paris on the 3rd day of April, A. D. , 1962, for the purpose of voting for and
electing four (4) membera of the City Council of the City of Paris to serve
for the ensuing two (2) years, to-wit:

WHEREAS, as required by law and directed and provided by the Charter
and ordinances of the City of Paris, such election wae conducted and held at
four (4) specified and designated polling places, that is, one polling place in
each of the four (4) wards of said City; and,
WHEREAS, sealed returns of said election made by the duly appointed
and designated election officiala of and for the four (4) respective voting
boxes have been duly made to the City Council of the City of Paris, as re-
quired by law, which returns, after due and deliberate review and canvass
thereof, show the following results of said election, to-wit:
(1) TN WARD ONE (1) A TOTAL OF 389 VOTES WERE CAST AS FOLLOWS:
For Councilman From Ward One: Verlin E. Stewart, 385 votes;
Write-in Candidates, votes.
For Councilman From Ward Two: E. L. (Andy) Anderson, 381 votes;
Write-in Candidates, votes.
For Councilman From Ward Three: W. D. (Dub) King, 382 votes;
Write-in Candidates, votes.
For Councilman From Ward Four: Charlie Walker, 381 votes;

NOW, THEREFORE, from the above and foregoing canva.ss of the returns
of the votes in the four (4) respective voting boxes in such election, it is de-
clared and determined that Verlin E. Stewart is the person receiving the highest
number of votes of the votes cast at such eleetion and a majority of the votes
cast at such election for Councilman From Ward Chie (1), and was therefore
elected to serve as Councilman From yVard One (1) and as a member of the
City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) years; that E. L. (Andy)
Anderson is the person receiving the highest number of votes and the ma,jority
of the votes cast at such election for Councilman From Ward Two (2), and was
therefore elected to serve as Councilman From Ward Two (2) and as a member
of the City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) years; that W. D.
(Dub) King is the person receiving the highest number of votes and the ma-
jority of the votes cast at such election for Councilman From Ward Three (3),
and was therefore elected to serve as Councilman From Ward Three (3) and as
a member of the City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) years;
and that Charlie Walker is the person receiving the highest number of votes
and the majority of the votes cast at such election for Councilman From Ward
Four (4), and was therefore elected to serve as Councilman From Ward Four
(4) and as a member of the City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing
tvvo (2) years.
Pa.ssed and adopted by the unanimous vote of the City Council of the
City of Pa.ris, in special session convened, pursuant to the directions of the
City Charter of the City of Paris, on this the 1 lth day of April, A. D. , 1962.
