988 RES PRESENT SYSTEM OF DISPOSING OF GARBAGE AND TRASH IS IN VIOLATIONRESOLUTION NO. 988 .
WHEREAS, the City Council has had, on many oecasions, brought to its
attention, that the present system of disposing of garbage and trash being
used by the City of Paris, is in violation of the health statutes of the Sta.te
of Texas; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary to procuxe land which is suita.ble for a
sanita,ry land fill, to replace the present dump ground, North of the City of
Paris; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Pa:ris has been offered the right to purchase
some seven tracts of land, located in the John Wilson Survey, totalling 191
acres of land, all of which tracts are contiguous and are well suited to the
operation of a sanitary land fill for many years for the City of Paris, froin
Jack W. Walker and wife, Maxine Walker; and,
WHEREAS, the purchase price of said land is $14, 700. OD, and the
City Council of the City of Paris has determined that the same is necessary,
and is for the best interests of all of the citizens of the City of Paris that
said land be procured; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
That the City Manager, H. C. Kennemer, be, and he is hereby authorized to
purchase said land and to operate a sanitary land fill thereon, and he is
hereby authorized to pay for said land the sum of $14, 700. 00 in cash. The
City Manager, H. C. Kennemer, and the City Clerk, H. C. Greene, are hereby
authorized and directed to transfer from the Council Contingent Fund the sum
of $7, 500. 00 to Budget Account No. 404-X-1 and to pay from said fund the
sum of $7, 500. 00 as part of the purchase price of said land, and they are
further authorized and directed to pay from the Water Building Fund the sum
of $7, 200. 00, being the remainder of the purcha.se price of said land.
