961 RES ELECTION WAS HELD BY QUALIFIED VOTERS OF COP ON 4TH DAY OF APRIL 1961RESOLUTION NO. 961
WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified voters of 'che City of
Paris, on the 4th day of April, A. D. , 1961, for the purpose of voting for
and electing three (3) members at large of the City Council of the City of
Paris to serve for the ensuing two (2) years, to-wit:
Three Councilmen at Large
WHEREAS, as required by law and directed and provided by the Charter
and Ordinances of the City of Paris, such election was conducted and held
at four (4) specified and designated polling places, that is, one polling place
in each of the four (4) wards of the City of Paris; and,
WHEREAS, sealed returns of said election, made by the duly appointed
and designated election officials of and for the four (4) respective voting
boxes, have been made to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Paris,
as required by law, which returns, after due and deliberate review and
canva s s the reof, show the follow ing re sults of said ele ction, to -wit:

Hayden Stripland, 338 Votes;
Arthur Cawthon, 325 Votes;
Write-In Candidates, 3 Votes.
NOW, THEREFORE, from the above and foregoing canvass of the returns
of the votes in the four (4) respective voting boxes in such election, it is de-
clared and determined that Hayden Stripland, Arthur Cawthon, and John E.
Price are the persons receiving the highest number of votes of the votes
cast at such election and a majority of the votes cast at such election for
Three Councilmen at Large, and are therefore elected to serve as
Councilmen at Large and as members of the City Council of the City of
Paris for the ensuing two (2) years.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Paris in special
session convened pursuant to the directions of the City Charter of the City
of Paris, on this the 12th day of April, A. D, , 1961.
