942 RES CITY COUNCIL CONSIDERING PURCHASE OF A BUILDING AND LOT0 0
RESOLUTYON NO. 942.
WHEREAS, the City Council has been considering the purchase of a
building and lot ixnmedia.tely South of the present City Hall, an the South
Side of East Kaufman Street, part of Lots 1 and 2 in Ha.lf Block 5 of the
City of Paris, belonging to R.obert P. Chancellor of 4klahoma City,
Oklahoma, and formerly known as the Amsrican National Insurance building
and lot; and,
WHEREAS, the same has been referred to a committee for investiga-
tion, composed of R.a.lph Beard, Cha.irman, and Natha.n J. Bell and C. L.
Walker, Members; and,
WHEREAS, the committee has reported to the City Council, at a
special meeting on November 28, 1960, at 5:00 o:clock P. M., that due to
the other space which is available for the offices required at the present
time, that the asking price was more tha.n would be justified with the
fina,ncea ava.ilable by the City of Paris, and that it would require consider-
able expenditure to fix the buildi.ng in desirable and useable condition for
the purposes required by the City of Faris, and the committee recommended
that the City of Paris offer to the owner the sum of $15, 000.00 cash for the
purchase of the building and lot; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the recommendation
of the committee is in accord with the thinking of the City CounciJ, of the
City of Paris; NQW, THER.EFOR.E,
BE TT RESOLVED BY THE CZTY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
Tha,t the City of Pa.ris offer to the owner of the bu3lding, Robert P.
Chancellor, the sum of $15, 000.40 cash for the building and lot, and in the
event the offer is accepted, that the same be communicated to the City
Council at a future meeting, by the City Mana,ger, for the Councilts
accepta.nce and recommenda.tion for the method of financing the purcha.se
the reof.
