• •
RESOLUTION N0. 793 .
WHEREAS, the City of Paris is, and has been for some
time, aware of its future need for an abundant water supply
to provide adequate water for residential, commercial and
industrial growth and expansion, and studies have been com-
menced and are continuing for the construction of a dam and
reservoir on Sanders Creek, located a few miles North of the
City of Paris, which will have a capacity in excess of
100,000 acre feet of water. The City of Paris has been work-
ing jointly with the Federal Government in securing and re-
alizing the construction of this dam and reservoir. The City
of Paris is cognizant of the fact that its future water needs
will necessitate the building of the Sanders Creek Dam and
Reservoir at an early date.
The City of Paris has been and will continue to co-
operate in every way possible with the Federal Government to
build Sanders Creek as a joint venture, and it is the belief
of the City of Paris that this project will be completed with-
in a maximum time of five to seven years. However, should
there develop any problem which would delay the completion of
the Sanders Creek Dam and Reservoir beyond the date which the
city feels it must have use of this water, then and in that
event, the City of Paris, in order to provide ample industrial
water, will immediately take the necessary steps to construct
the Sanders Creek Dam and Reservoi_r as a city project only,
and without the participation of the Federal Government.
The City of Paris is advised by its consultants that
it is entirely feasible and practicable fcrthe City of Paris
to construct this Dam and Reservoir as a city project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the City Council
of the City of Paris will do everything.within its power to
pursue and expedite the joint construction of the Sanders
Creek Dam and Reservoir, or, if it should become desirable, it
will construct the dam and reservoir as a City of Paris pro-
ject only.
Passed and adopted this 28th day of April, A. D.,
1958.

~ Mayor
ATTES :
.'C
City C erk
APPRO AS TO FORM: '
City Att ney
