<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris met in a special called
<br />session, at the City Hall, in the City of Paris, on h9arch 4, A. D., 1958, at
<br />5:15 P. M.; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council was advised through the medium of the
<br />Industrial Division of the Chamber of Comnerce of Lamar County, Texas, that
<br />there had been recent contact made with a large well-known national industry
<br />with reference to the location of a plant in the vicinity of the City of Paris,
<br />and in particular upon sites R, Q, 0, L, and P on the map of the Industrial
<br />Division of the Chamber of Commerce; and,
<br />WHEREAS, it has been estimated that such industry will require in the
<br />neighborhood of five million (5,000,000) gallons of water and sewer service
<br />daily; and,
<br />4VHEREAS, the City of Paris is now engaged in a program of extending
<br />its water and sewer services to create better water and sewage facilities; and,
<br />WHEREAS, it has been the policy of the City Council of the City of
<br />Paris to extend its welcome and lend its services to any substantial prospec-
<br />tive industrial development in the City of Paris, or in the immediate vicinity
<br />thereof; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris has made a detailed study and received en-
<br />gineering cost estimates from the Engineering Firm of Forrest and Cotton of
<br />Dallas, Texas, on the capital expenditures that would be necessary to provide
<br />the water and sewage services required by such industry, and that more than
<br />sufficient funds are now available to make the improvements, and such improve-
<br />ments would not in any way create any financial problem or burden upon the City
<br />of Paris, nor would such improvements jeopardize any portion of the Water and
<br />Sewer Distribution Program now being carried out by the City of Paris; NOW,
<br />THEREFORE,
<br />BE IT RESO LVED BY THE CITY QOUNCIL OF THE CITY 0 F PARIS, That the City
<br />of Paris is ready, willing, and entirely able, and would welcome the opportunity
<br />to provide water and sewer services up to five million (5,000,000) gallons daily
<br />to either of the various site5 shown on said map of the Industrial Division of
<br />the Chamber of Commerce. That the City of Faris will furnish treated water at
<br />the rate of eight cents (8~) per one thousand (1,000) gallons, and sewage will
<br />be furnished at a fair and reasonable cost, not to exceed the pro rata incremen-
<br />tal cost of processing said sewage.
<br />IT IS FURTHER RESO LVED that the City Council of the City of Paris extend
<br />to such industry its wholehearted welcome, and that said industry is hereby
<br />offered the cooperation of the City of Paris in all particulars.
