778 RES ORDERING ELECTION TO BE HELD ON FIRST TUESDAY IN APRIL 1958• • RESOLUTION N0. 77$ • A RESOLUTION ORDERIIVG AN ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TH E FIRST TUESDAY IN APRIL, 195$, SAYiE BEING THE 1ST DAY OF APRIL, 1958, BETWEEN THE HOURS OF $:00 OtCLOCK A. M. AND 7:00 OtCLOCK P. M., BY THE QUALTFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING THE FOLLUWING COtJNC1LMEN TO SFRVE AS MEM- BERS OF THE CITY COUNCTL FOR THE ENSUING TWO YEARS. BE IT RESULVED BY THE C1TY COUNCIL OF THE C1TY OF PARIS: Section l. That an election be held by the qualified uters of the City of Paris on the first Tuesday in April, 1958, same being the lst day of April, 1958, between the hours of $:00 otclock A. M. and 7:00 Otclock P. M., for the purpose of electing four (4) members of the City Council of the City of Paris, as follows: One Councilman From Ward One (1) Une Councilman From Ward Two (2) One Councilman From Ward Three (3) One Councilman From Ward Four (4) as provided in Section 16 of Article lII of the Charter of the City of Paris, adopted on November 2, 1948, and in accordance with Article IX of the Charter of the City of Paris, adopted November 2, 1948, such Councilmen to serve for the ensuing two years. Section 2. That the pollin.g places and election offi- cials of such election shall be as follows: Ward One (1): Polling Place: Central Fire Station Officials: Mrs. R. C. Adams , Clerk Ward Two (2): Polling Place: Grand Hotel Lobby Officials: Mrs. Hu h Collirs , Presiding Judge Nir. Hug o Zns , Judge Mrs. Ber-tha Hodges , Clerk Mrs. Elizabeth Tompkins, Clerk Ward Three (3): Polling Place: Lamar County Cou rthouse, Basement Assembly Room. The Presiding Judge of the respective voting boxes shall designate and appoint such additional, com- petent and qualified clerks for such respective polling places and voting boxes as may be required, if any, for the efficient conduct of said election. Section 4. Such election shall be held in accordance with the laws of the State of Texas governing general and mu- nicipal elections, insofar as the same may be applicable and with the provisions of the City Charter and Ordlnances of the City of Paris. Section 5. The Chief of Police of the City of Paris is hereby directed and instructed to post a properly executed Notice of Election pursuant to this order for election, signed by the Mayor of the City of Paris, at each of the polling places designated above, which said notices of election shall by him be posted not less than thirty (30) days prior to said election; further, a properly executed copy of such Notice of Electirn shall be published one time in the Paris News, the official newspaper of the City of Paris and a newspaper of general circulation in said City, which notice shall be pub- lished not less than twenty (20) days before said election. Section 6. The pay of the judges and clerks of said election is hereby authorized and established as follows: $$.00 per day for each judge and clerk; the election judge who delivers the returns of the said election immediately after the votes have been counted to the proper office shall be paid an additional sum of $2.00 for that service, provided also, he shall make returns of all election supplies not used when he makes returns of such election.
