VdHEREAS, each year during the holiday season the doivntown parking
problem for shoppers and customexs of the downtown merchants is and has
been a sericus problem; and,
VJIiEREAS, the City of Paris has been unable, to date, to cbtain
suificient off street downtown parking area for the various citizens viho
desire to park while doing their Christmas shopping; and,
NJHEREAS, the First Baptist Church of the City of Paris oivns con-
siderable orf street parking area, between the West Boundary Line of South
Church Street and the East Boundary Line of lst Street, S. E.; and,
V.'HEREAS, the First Baptist Church of Paris, Texas did, during the
1957 holidays, open its off street parking lots and permit free parking
thereon by the customers and shoppers of the doxmtown merchants; NOLN,
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESC?LVED D~Y TI-E CITY COUPICIL Or THE CITY OF PA.RIS, That the
City of Paris, for and on behalf of itself and the citizenshi.p of the City
of Paris, hereby expresses its full and deep appreciation to the First
Baptist Church and the officers thereof for having permitted the use of
its parking lots to the citizenship of Paris, and the City Manager is
hereby directed to furnish a copy of this resolution to the I'irst Baptist
Church of the City of Paris and thereby convey to it this expression of
appreciation.
