768 RES INTERESTED CITIZENS OF COP ARE INTERESTED IN DEVLEOPING SANDERS CREEK DAM AND RESERVOIR PROJECT• •
RESOLUTION N0.
WtIEREAS, a number of interested citizens in the City of Paris and in
and around the Paris trade territory have been interested in developing what
is known as the Sanders Creek Dam and Reservoir Project; and,
WHEREAS, it is contemplated that the future growth of Paris wi:ll
eventually render Lake Crook inadequate to furnish the necessary water
supply for the City of Paris; and,
WHEREAS, there is a strong probability that it will be necessauy for
the City of Paris to arrange in the future for a more adequate reservoir of
water; and, ,
WHEREAS, the United States Government has interested itself in the
building af the dam to create such lake and reservoir on Sanders Creek;; and,
WI-EREAS, it will be necessary for the City of Paris, at the prciper
time, to enter into a contract wi.th the Government to pay for its propcir-
tionate part of the cost of such dam; and,
WI-EREAS, the amount of water contemplated to be used or needed by
the City of Paris for industrial and municipal purposes is approximated, to be
in the neighborhood of fifty thousand (50,000) acre feet; NOW, THEREFORE9
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TI-iE CITY OF PARIS, Thet the
City of Paris agrees to enter into a contract wri.th the Government of the
United States, at the proper time, to pay fos its proportionate part of the
building of the dam on Sanders Creek to create such lake and reservoir.
