RESOLUTION IdU.
A RESOLUTION TO RECORD THE PURPOSE AND INTENT OF THE
ODVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF PARIS TO SUBIuQT TO THE
ELECTORATE OF THE CITY OF PARIS AS SOON AS MAY APPEAR
FEASIBLE THE QUESTION OF THE ADOPTION AND EXERCISE OF
THE POPJERS VESTED IN SAID CITY BY THE PROVISIONS OF
H.B. 70, ADOPTED BY THE FIFTY-FIFTH LEGISLATURE.
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. p adopted on the 28th diay
of September, 1957, the City Council designated the Frisco-Santa Fe
Urban Renewal Area in the City of Paris as a slum, blighted, deteriorated
or deteriorating area appropriate for an urban renewal project and iau-
thorized the undertaking of surveys and plans for an urban renewal project
in such area; and,
WHEREAS, it is the purpose and intention of the City Council. to
take such action as may be appropriate and necessary in order to mah:e
available to the City of Paris the powers vested in the cities of Texas
by the provisions of H.B. 709 enacted by the Fifty-Fifth Texas
Legislaturep including the holding of the local referendum election pro -
vided in and by Sections 5 and 16(a) of said Act as soon as and at such
time as may appear most feasible.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RE90LVED BY THE CITY WUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS:
That there be recorded on the minutes of this Ga erning Body thi$
statement and assurance of its purpose and intention to submit to tt-ie
electorate of the City of Paris as soon as possible and as may appeair
expedient and feasible the issue and question of the exercise by the! City
of Paris of the urban renewal powers provided and specified in and bly
said Urban Renewal Law of Texas, as incorporated in said H.B. 70.
