RESOLUTION N0. 732 .
PJHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, several months prior
to this date, requested the Soil Conservation Service of the U. S. Department
of Agriculture, by contacting its local Soil Conservation Unit, through
PAarshall H. Nichols, and also through J. S. Sharp, a Director in the Staite
Soil Conservation Service of the State of Texas, to make a sedimentation
survey on the two lakes belonging to the City of Paris, namely, Lake Crook
and Lake Gibbons; and,
4VHEREAS9 such survey has been completed on both of said lakes k>y the
U. S. Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service; and,
WHEREAS, at the regular meeting of the City Council on August 1.2,
A. D., 1957, Mr. J. S. Sharp, on behalf of the Soil Conservation ServicE?
of the Department of Agriculture, appeared before the City Council of the
City of Paris and presented to it the wr;.tten report of the Soil Conservation
Service of the Department4of Agriculture and called attention to a number of
significant facts contained in such report; and,
WHEREt1S, the report is of much value to the City of Paris in making
plans for future water supply, and will be of much service to the City of
Paris in such connection; NO'N, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLUED BY THE CITY COUNClL OF THE CITY CF PARIS, That i;he
City of Paris does hereby express its appreciation and gratitude to Pv1r.
J. S. Sharp and Marshall H. Nichols, and to all of those who had a part or
portion in the preparation ef such sedimentation report, and the City oi=
Paris, by this resolution, does so express its gratitude and appreciation
to the Soil Conservation Service of the U. S. Department of Agriculture
and to all those in connection therewith, who have caused to be made and
have made such a thorough and complete sedimentation report of Lake Crook
and of Lake Gibbons for and on behalf of the City of Paris.
BE IT FURTHER RESGLVED that a copy of this resolution be furni:shed
to the Soil Conservation Service, U. S. Department of Agriculture at Temple,
Texas, to the local Soil Conservation Unit in Lamar County, and to J. S„
Sharp.
