RESOLUTION N0. 725
WHEIZEAS, the rianager of the Lamar County Chamber of Comerce, i~Ir.
James Oxford, appeaxed before the Cit3• Council of the City of Paxis and
presented to the CitJT Counc3l certain figures with reference to the in.-
crease in population i.n the City of Paxis; and,
+E , he explained to the City Council that said figures were
based upon the number of wa.ter meters, light meters, and gas meters times
3.5, which is the national standaxd for calculating population; and,
WHEREAS, the figure recommended to the City Council by the Chamber
of Cousnerce wa.s 24,551, as of July 1, 1957; and,
WHEREAS.. the City Council of the City of Paris is of the opinion
and believes that the populatio n figure of the City of Paris as of July 1,
1957, is 24J.551 persons; and,
WHEREAS, it is necessary to furnish the State Highway Department
with a copy of this resolution, in order to get the signs on the sides of
the highways at the entrances to the City of Paris changed from their old
figures; NOW, TNEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY TEE CITY CAUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, That the
population of the City of Paxis, as of July 1, 1957, be set at 24,551,
and that a copy of this resolution be furnished to the State Highway
Department, together with the request that the population figures at the
entrances to the City of Paris.,on the highways, be chan;ed from the old
figure to 24,551.
