697 RES ELECTION WAS HELD BY QUALIFIED VOTERS ON 2ND DAY OF APRIL 1957• • RESOLUTION N0. 697 WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified voters of the City of Paris on the 2nd day of April, A. D., 19579 for the purpose of votin9 for and electing three (3) members at large heCity witCouncil of the City of Paris to serve for the ensuing two (2) years, to- Three Councilmen at Large WHEREAS, as required by law and directed and provided by the Charter and Ordinances of the City of Paris, such e nwas ndeding eplace four (4) specified and designated polling places> that is> one Poll in each of the four (4) wards of the City of Paris; and, WHEREAS, sealed returns of said election made by the duly appointed and designated election officials of and for the four (4) respective voting boxes have been made to the Mayor and City Council of the City •f Paris, as required by law, which returns, after due and deliberate review and canvass thereof, show the following results of said election, to-wits (1) IN WAF?D ONE (1) A TOTAL OF 521 VOTES WERE CAST AS FO I.IDWS t For Three Councilmen at Large: Elton Castlebury, 136 Votes; J. NpW$ TtiEREFORE, from the above and foregoing canvass of the returns of the votes in the four (4) respective voting boxes in such election, it is ded ared and determined that Robert McWhirter, William C. Ragan, and J. M. Gladden were the persons receiving the highest number of votes of the votes • • cast at such election and a majority of the votes cast at such election for Three Councilmen at Large, and were therefore elected to serve as Councilmen at Large and as members of the City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) years. Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Paris in special session convened purauant to the directions of the City Charter of the City of Paris, on this the lOth day of April, A.
