A RESOLUTION ORDERING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE
FIRST TUESDAY IN APRIL, 1957, SAME BEING THE 2ND DAY OF
APRIL, 1957, BETWEEN THE HOURS OF $:00 OtCLOCK A. M. AND
7:00 OtCLOCK P. M., BY THE QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF ELECTING THE FOLLOWING COUNCILMEN
TO SERVE AS MEMERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL FOR THE ENSUING TWO
YEARS.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS:
Section 1. That an election be held by the qualified
voters of the City of Paris on the first Tuesday in April,
1957, same being the 2nd day of April, 1957, between the hours
of $:00 otclock A. M. and 7:00 o'clock P. M., for the purpose
of electing three (3) members of the City Council of the City
of Paris as follows:
Three Councilmen at Large
as provided in Section 16 of Article III of the Charter of the
City of Paris, adopted on November 2, 1948, and in accordance
with Article IX of the Charter of the City of Paris, adopted
November 2, 1948, such Councilmen to serve for the ensuing two
years.
Section 2. That the polling places and election
officials of such election shall be as follows:

Polling Place: Central Fire Station

Section 3. The Presiding Judge of the respective
voting boxes shall designate and appoint such additional,
competent and qualified clerks for such respective polling
places and voting boxes as maq be required, if any, for the
efficient conduct of said election.
Section 4. Such electian shall be held in accordance
with the laws of the State of Texas governing general and
municipal elections, insofar as the same may be applicable,
and with the provisions of the City Charter and Ordinances
of the City of Paris.
Section 5. The Chief of Police of the City of Paris
is hereby directed and instructed to post a properly exe-
cuted Notice of Election pursuant to this order for election,
signed by the Mayor of the City of Paris, at each of the
polling places designated above, which said notices of
Election shall bg him be posted not less than thirty (30)
days prior to said election; further, a properly executed
copy of such Notiee of Election shall be published one time
in the Paris News, the official newspaper of the City of
PariS and a newspaper of general circulation in said Cit ,
which notice shall be published not less than twenty (20T
days before said election.
Section 6. The pay of the judges and clerks of said
election is hereby authorized and established as follows:
$$.00 per day for each judge and clerk; the election judge
who delivers the returns of the said election immediately
after the votes have been counted to the proper office shall
be paid an additional sum of $2.00 for that service, pro-
vided also, he shall make returns of all election supplies
not used when he makes returns of such election.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of
Paris in regular meeting at the City Hall of said City this
llth day of February, A. D., 1957•
