<br />RESOLUTION NO. 657
<br />WHEREAS, the Citq Council of the City of Paris heretofore
<br />authorized the firm of Forrest and Cotton and the City Mandger of
<br />the City of Paris to advertise for bids on certain materials, in-
<br />cluding eoncrete modified pipe, and the fittings thithe fittings
<br />Sizes 30" and 24" and certain other concrete pipe, and
<br />therefor, and cast iron pipe, and the fittings therefor, Sa.zes
<br />20n, 1$119 16", and 14"; and,
<br />WHEREAS, said bids have been received and opened by the
<br />City Council of the City of Paris; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the Engineering Firm of Forrest and Cotto~hg~
<br />Dallas and the City Manager have recommended as fbllows:
<br />the bid of Gifford-Hill-Ameriean, Inc. oinD~lr~Sinforced concrete
<br />thirty (30n) inch and tWenty-four (24")
<br />steel cylinder pipe, and the fittings therefor, Class 150, Federal
<br />Specifications SS-P-3$1, commonly called modified pre-stressed
<br />concrete pipe, and the fittings therefor, is the best and lowest
<br />bid therefor; and,
<br />WHEREAS, it is recommended by the City Manager and the
<br />Engineering Firm of Forrest and Cotton that such pipe, and the
<br />fittings therefor, be used on said project, and that such bid be
<br />accepted; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the Engineering Firm of Forrest and Cotton of
<br />Dallas, Texas, and the City Manager of the City of Paris have
<br />recommended that the pipe, and the fitt3ngs therefor, advertised
<br />for, 20n, 1$TM, 16", and 14", all sizes cast iron, Class 150, be
<br />used in the construction of the water and sewage program proposed
<br />for the City of Paris; and,
<br />WHEREAS, the Engineering Firm of Forrest and Cottvn of
<br />Dallas and the City Manager of the City of Paris have advised the
<br />City Council that the bid of United States Pipe and Foundzā¢p
<br />Company of Dallas, Texas for the cast iron pipe and fittings,
<br />Class 150, Sizes 20n, 1$"91 16", and 14", is the lowest and best
<br />bid therefor and recommend the acceptance of such bid; NOW,
<br />THEREFORE,
<br />BE IT RESOLYED HY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
<br />That the contract for the aforesaid 30" and 24'* modified pre-
<br />stressed concrete pipe and fittings, nade by Gifford-Hill-
<br />American, Ine. be, and the same is hereby declared to be the
<br />lowest and best bid, and the contract for the purchase of such
<br />pipe and fittings is hereby awarded to Gifford-Hill-Ameriaan,
<br />Inc., and the City Manager of the Citp of Paris be, and he is
<br />hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with
<br />Gifford-Hill-American, Inc. pursuant to and in accordance with
<br />the plans and specifications furnished by Forrest and Cotton for
<br />the purchase and delivery of the 30" modified pre-stressed con-
<br />crete pipe and fittings, and the 24" modified pre-stressed con-
<br />crete pipe and fittings therefor.
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the bid of United States
<br />Pipe and Foundry Company of Dallas, Texas for the 20", 1$", 16",
<br />and 14" cast iron pipe, Class 150, and all fittings therefor,
<br />be, and the same is hereby declared the lowest and best bid,
<br />and said contract is hereby awarded to the said United States
<br />Pipe and Foundry Company, and the City Manager of the City of
<br />Paris be, and he is hereby authorized to enter~~uant tonandcin
<br />with United States Pipe and Foundry Company, pu
<br />accordance with the plans and specifications furnished by Forrest
<br />and Cotton for the purchase and delivery of the cast iron. pipe
<br />involved, and the fittings therefor.
