623 RES COP OWNS AND POSSESSES CERTAIN LANDS AND PREMISES EMBRACING 216 ACRES~ • • RESOLUTIQN NC>. 623 . VyHEREAS, The City of Paris owns and possesses certain lands dnd premises embracing 216 acres, more or less, being a part of the City of Paris property known as the Legion Airport properties; andp WHEREAS, said 216 acres of land is not at the present time and will not at any time in the foreseeable future be needed and required by the City of Paris for any municipal purpose; and, VVHEREAS, such acreage is producing ansubstantial revenue for the City of Paris and being owned by said City produces no taxable income for the City or any other taxing unit; and, WHEREAS, it is the considered judgment and opinion of the City Council that a long term lease, or a long term lease with option to pur- chase, or the outright sale of said 216 acres of land is to the best :in- terest of the City of Paris and its citizens, provided a satisfactory and reasonable proposal therefor is obtained; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TI-E CITY OF PARISs 1. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, instructed to advertise for sealed bids for (a) a lease for any term of years not to exceed ten,(b) a lease for any term of years not to exceed ten with option of lessee to purchase the leased property at any time during the leasE? term, or (c) the sale of the property owned by the City of Paris embrzicing approximately 216 acres, being a part of what is commonly known as Legion Field, fronting on F. M. Highway No. 79, located North West of the Cit:y of Paris in Lamar County, Texas, being more particularly described as followss Beginning at a point in the W. B. Line of 19th N. W. Street, which point is 500 feet North of the intersection of the North Boundary Line of Henderson Street with the E. B. Line of 19th N. W. Street, being the most Easterly South East corner of said City of Paris Legion Airport properties; Thence North with the W. B. Line of said 19th N. W. Street 950 feet to the North Easterly N. Line of a tract formerly owned by Williams, in all a distance of 2341.25 feet, an ell corner of the said Legion Airport properties; Thence South 726 feet, a corner; Thence East 833.25 feet; Thence North with the E. B. Line of a tract fortnerly owned by Dickson; at 498 feet pass the S. tiy. corner of a tract under lease to Pdid-West Video Corporationt in all a distance of 1098 feet, the N. W. corner of said Mid 4Vest Video tract; Thence East 654 feet, the N. E. corner of said Mid-West Video tract; Thence North 970 feet, an ell corner of said Legiun Airport property; Thence East 1104 feet to the place of beginning. 2. That such advertisement for sealed bids be made by publisYiing notice thereof in the Paris News twice within ten (10) days from the cfate hereof. Such advertisement shall provide that any lease will be made for anr.ual lease payments, payable annually in advance and that any sale v+ill be made for casht and shall further provide that the City of Paris re•- serves the right to reject any and all bids and advertise again and that all bids will be received by the City Manager of the City of Paris until 5:00 o•clock P. M. on the „3, W-day of 1956. 3. In the event an advantageous bid pursuant to this resoluti.on and the publication of such notice shall not be received, the City of Paris may withdraw such property from lease or sale.
