~ <br />RESOLUTION N}. 549 . <br />0 <br />Whereasp the United States of America heretofore conveyed to the <br />City of Paris for municipal airport purposes the propertyg premises and <br />improvements located east of Paris and known as Cox Field, by theterms <br />and provisions of which grant and conveyance said Government retained <br />and reserved certain control relative to the use and disposition of the <br />improvements thereat and thereon situated and located and the income de- <br />rived from the use and operation of said property and premises; and, <br />6Yhereas, the Civil Aeronautics Administration, Department of <br />Commerce, in response to the request and proposal of the City of Paris, <br />initiated by its City Manager, has submitted a proposal and authorization <br />relative to the disposal of certain enumerated and indicated buildings, as <br />fully described in letter dated September 3, 1953, addressed to John W. <br />Perryman Jr.t City Manager of the City of Parist from A. E. Dyatt, District <br />Airport Engineer, Civil Aeronautics Administrationt the conditions of which <br />are as follows: "In case any of the buildings are salvaged the salvaged <br />materials will be used on the existing buildings or otherwise retained and <br />used on the airport for maintenance or development of the facility and in <br />case any salvaged material is sold or when any building is sold the pro- <br />perty must be publicly advertised and sold to the highest bidder, but in <br />the event the highest bid received is not a fair price, the property will <br />be withdrawn from sale and sold by negotiation at not below fair price. <br />Alsop all proceeds of any sale will be devoted exclusivelyBuilding <br />operation, maintenance or development of a public airport <br />T-143 ....wi11 first be put in good condition before any revenue re- <br />ceived from sale will be used for other airport purposes."; and, <br />ti"ihereas it appears that such buildings are deteriorating or fast <br />deteriorating and have deteriorated to a point where repairs and rehabili- <br />tation are net economically justifiable, their economical useful life <br />having already expired; andt <br />4Vhereasg it is the wish, desire and decision of the City Council <br />of the City of Paris that the buildings in question be seld or salvaged at <br />the earliest possible date upon andsubject to the conditions prescribed <br />and enunciated by the Civil Aerenautics Adninistratien, as mentioned above: <br />W6^!) TFEREA;RE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TFE CITY 0:~UNCIL OF THE CITY GF <br />PARIS, That, the hereinabove mentioned and referred to proposal of the <br />Civil Aeronautics Administratien, relative to the disposal of certain <br />enumerated buildings at Cox Field, and the conditions of such proposall <br />be, and the same are hereby, accepted and adopted by the City Council of <br />the City of Paris and the City rAanager is hereby authorized and instructed <br />to initiate the necessary proceedings for the disposal and salvage of such <br />buildings and the materials therefrom in the most feasible, economical and <br />prcfitable manner in view of the prescribed conditions and requirements of <br />the Civil Aeronautics Administration; that materials and revenue derived <br />from the salvage or sale of any such buildings will first be used to put <br />in good condition Building T-143 before any revenue received from any such <br />sale will be used for other airport purposes; that all other materials <br />realized from the salvage of any such buildings will be retained for the <br />maintenance and improvement of the airport facilities, and any revenues <br />received from the sale of any such buildings or salvaged materials shall be <br />retained by the City and set aside for the future development and impreve- <br />ment of the airport facilities. <br />It is further ordered that triplicate copies of this resolution <br />shall be furnished to the Civil Aeronautics Administration for its files. <br />Adopted by the City Council of the City of Paris in regular session <br />this 14th day of September, 1953. ~ <br />, ' / <br />-o- PJlayor <br />ATTEST: <br />e c~~~,City Clerk. <br />
