442 RES ORDERING ELECTION TO BE HELD ON 13TH DAY OF JULY 1948•
R E S 0 L U T I 0 N
A RESOLUTION ORD-RING AN ELELTION to be held between the hours of 8:00 A.M.
and 6:00 P.M. on the 13th day of July, 1948, by the qualified voters of the City of
Paria for the purpose of electing a City Recorder for the unexpired term ending on
the First Tuesday in April,, 1949, and DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS that an election be
held by the qualified voters of the City of Paris between the hours of 8:00 A. M.
and 6s00 P. M. on the 13th day of July, 1948, for the purpose of electing a City
Recorder to serve the unexpired term ending on the First Tuesday in April, 1949.
The polling pla.ces and preaiding officers of the election shall be respec-
tively as follows:
WARD 1: Central Fire Station
WARD 2: Grand Hotel
wARn 3: county courthouse
WARD 4: Paris High School

The Mayor is instructed to give thirty days notice of said election by poating
notices at each polling place for that period of time and publishing a simi.lar notice
in the official paper, the Paris News, a paper of general circulation in the City of
Paris, Texa.s.
The election to be held in accordance with the general election laws of the
State of Texas insofar as same are applicable and not in conflict with the provisions
of the City Charter.
The faet that a vacancy by reason of death has occurred in the office of City
Recorder creates an emergency requiring that the rules and Charter Provisions prohibiting
the passage of a resolution at the meeting intrnduced and requiring submission of same
to a commi.ttee be suspended and the same is acaordingly done, and this resolution ahA1l
take effect from arid after its passage.
