Brovm the property belonging to the City of Paris and heretofore used as a fire
station and declaring an ern,ergency.
'NHEREAS, the building in the City of Paris has been extensiYeN in the
Southeastern part of town, in the vicinity of Paris Junior College and Stellrose
Addition and which extension is at a great distance from the fixe station located
on Pine Bluff Street and such fire station is not in the center of the building%
in the East part of town and for proper fire protection for such part of toyrn it
is necessary to move the fire station now located on Pine Bluff Street in order
that it may be in a better position to protect the entire eastern part of the
City., and
yVHEREAS, the City of Paris has heretofore purchased a site on Lamar Avenue
for the purpose of building a fire station to serve the East side of the City of
Paris, which site is better located than the old site on P ine Bluff Street and as
such property on P ine Bluff Street is not further needed by the City of Paris since
its abandonment as a fire station, and it is necessary to sell said site on Pine
Bluff Street to procure funds for the erection of an adeauate fire station on the
site on Larnar Avenue, and
W?-iEREAS, the City can sell said site on Pine Bluff Street at an advantage and
for the sum of $6500000, which sum is considered an adequate consideration for said
site,
NOiN, THEREFOR:E, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor be and is hereby authcrized to
execute a deed conveying to b3arion E. Brown the said site on Pine Bluff Street for
the sum of $6500.00, which property is described as follows:
BEGINNING at the intersection of the NB line of Pine Bluff St with the ES line
of lOth St NE, formerly designated North 28th St; thence North 285 feet with the EB
line of lOth St NEP the SB line of Cherry St; thence East with the SB line of Cherry
St, 111 feet, a bo~s d'arc post, the PJTId cornex of Jess Alford Lot; thence South 285,5
feet, the NB line of Pine B1,uff St, same being the S1J corner of a lot owned by C. S.
Braswell; thence VVe st 100 feet to the place of beginning.
VkiEREAS, the sale of this property on Pi.ne Bluff Street is necessary at once in
order to begin work on the new fire station on Larnxar Avenue, creates a public
emergency which is hereby declared,, requiring that the Charter provisions and rules
prohibiting the passage of an ordinance at the same meeting at which it is introduced
and requiring it to be submi tted to a committee, be suspended, the same is accordingly
done and this Resolution wrill take effect from and after its passage,
