AN ORDINANCE SETTING A DATE, TIME AND PLACE FOR PUBLIC
HEARINGS BEFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS ON THE
PROPOSED ANNEXATION OF CEF.TAIN PROPERTY BY THE CITY OF
PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE NiAYOR
TO PUBLISH NOTICE OF SUCH PUBLIC HEARINGS.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS:
Section l. That public hearings be held by and
before the City Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas,
in Special Session convened on the 20th day of October,
1988, at 5:15 o'clock p.m., in the Ccuncil Rcom, City Hall,
Paris, Texas; and by and before the City Council of the City
of Paris, Paris, Texas, in Special Session convened on the
24th day of October, 1988, at 5:15 o'clock p.m., in the
Council Room, City Hall, Paris, Texas, giving all interested
persons the right tn appear and be heard on the proposed
annexation o� the following described property:
Being situated in the William Brazier Survey, Ira
Reules Survey, J. Dalton Survey, R. Rattan Survey, J.
Rattan Survey, A. Mclnturff Survey, M.E.P. & P,R.R.
Survey, Wm. Chisum Survey, Thomas Askins Survey, John
L. Love j oy Survey , W. H. Merr i 11 Survey , T. G. Chi sum
Survey, B. F. Bourland Survey, J. Watson Survey and
kedin Russell Survey and more particularly described as
follows:
BEGINNING at a point in the North Boundary Line of
F.M. Highway 79, sai.d point being the Southwest corner
of a tract of land conveyed H. J. Boggs by deed
recorded in Vol. 268, Page 176 of the Deed Records of
La�ar County, Texas, and said point being in the
present City Limit line of the City of Paris;
THENCE Northwesterly with the North Boundary Line
of F.M. Highway 79, 8,450 feet more or less to the
Southwest corner of a tract of land conveyed the City
of Paris by deed recorded in Volume 197, Page 180 of
said Deed Records, said point being the Southwest
corner of a 2,717 acre tract of land known as the Lake
Crook Property;
THENCE with the West and North Boundary Lines of
the Lake Crook Praperty, the tollowing course and
distance: North 2,740 feet to a point; West 600 feet
to a point; North 2,950 feet to a point; East 2,100
feet to a point; North 1,200 feet to a point; East
1,720 feet to a point, North 1,230 feet to a point;
East 1,250 feet to a point; North 450 feet to a point;
East 1,680 feet to a point; North 3,000 feet to a
point; East 2,220 feet to a point; North 800 feet to a
point; East 750 feet to a point; North 1,100 feet to a
point; East 1,720 feet to a point; North 520 feet to a
point in the South Boundary Line of F.M. Highway 1499;
THENCE Easterly with the South Boundary Line of
F.M. Highway 1499, a distance of 2,000 feet to the most
Northerly Northeast corner of said Lake Crook Property;
THENCE South 1,320 feet to a point for corner;
THENCE East 900 feet to a point for corner;
THENCE South 2,100 feet more or less to the
centerline of Pine Creek, said point being the
Northwest corner of a 205.04 acre tract of land
conveyed the City of Paris by Howard S. Smith and Wife,

THENCE Southwesterly with the centerline of said

Line of a County Road;
THENCE N 89° 29' `L5" W, 714.8 feet along the North
Boundary Line of said County Road to a point, the
Southwest corner of said Smith tract;
THENCE continuing in a Westerly direction with the
North Boundary Line of said County Road and the
Westerly exterlsion thereof to a point in the East
Boundary Line of a County Road known as Lake Crook
Road;
THENCE Southerly and Southeasterly with the East
Boundary Line of said Lake Crook Road to its
intersection with the West Boundary Line af U. S.
Highway 271;
THENCE Southerly with the West Boundary Line of U.
S. Highway 271 to the existing City Limit line, the
same being 1,629 feet North of the intersection of the
West Boundary Line of U. S. Highway 271, with the North
Boundary Line of Loop Highway 2�36 N.W.;
THENCE, in a Westerly direction with said existing
City Limit line to the point of beginning.
Section 2. That the Mayor of the City of Paris,
Paris, Texas, is hereby authorized and directed to cause
notice of such public hearings to be published once in the
newspaper having general circulation in the City and in the
above described territorv not more that twenty (20) days nor
less than ten (10) days prior to the date of such public
hearings, all in accordance with the Municipal Annexation
(Chapter 43, Vernon's Texas Codes Annotated - Local
Government).
Section 3. It is hereby declared to be the inten-
tion of the City Council of the City of Paris that the
sections, paragraphs, sentPnces, clauses and phrases of this
ordinance are severable, and if any phrase, clause, sen-
tence, paragraph or section of this ordinance shall be
declared uncor.tstitutional or invalid by the valid judgment
or decree of any court of competent jurisdiction, such
unconstitutionality or invalidity shall r.ot affect any of

the remaining phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs and
sectior_ s of this ordinance, since the same would have been
enacted by the city Council without the incorporation in
this ordinance ot any unconstitutional or invalid phrases,
clauses, sentences, paragraphs or sections. It is further
hereby declared to be the intention of the City Council of
the City of Paris to exclude any area or areas described in
the description of the property to be annexed, which are not
within said City's jurisdiction to annex and that such area
or areas should be carved out of the description of the
property herein described by the valid judgment or decree of
any court of competent jurisdiction, in order that such area
or areas woulci not cause this annexation ordinance to be
found to be invalid, voidable or void.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect immedi-
ately upon passage.
