RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE CITY
ATTORNEY TO NEGOTIATE AND THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE
AN ENGINEERING SERVICES CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF
PARIS AND BUCHER, WILLIS & RATLIFF TO PERFORM ENGINEERING
SERVICES RELATED TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW ELEVATED
WATER STORAGE TANK AND ASSOCIATED WATER LINES;
AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF FUNDS FROM THE
WATERWORKS AND SEWER SYSTEM REVENUE BONDS, SERIES 2000,
FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF SAID SERVICES; MAKING OTHER
FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, a reliable potable water supply is one of the essential elements of life; and,
WHEREAS, reliable, consistent water pressure is necessary to deliver potable water for all
purposes, especially for fire-fighting; and,
WHEREAS, the City Engineer of the City of Paris has identified the need for a new elevated
water storage tank to increase the City's water storage capabilities and to enhance the water pressure
in the City's water system; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that the construction of a new elevated
water storage tank is necessary to protect the public health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the
city of Paris; and,
WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that the City Manager and the City Attorney be
authorized to negotiate and the City Manager to execute an engineering services contract with
Bucher, Willis & Ratliffto perform engineering services related to the construction of said elevated
water storage tank; and,
WHEREAS, it is further deemed appropriate that said engineering services be funded from
surplus funds identified as such by the City Engineer in the Waterworks and Sewer System Revenue
Bonds, Series 2000; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things
approved.
Section 2. That the City Manager and the City Attorney be, and they are hereby, authorized
to negotiate and the City Manager to execute an engineering services contract with Bucher, Willis
& Ratliffto perform engineering services related to the construction of a new elevated water storage
tank and associated water lines.
Section 3. That said engineering services be funded from surplus funds identified as such by
the City Engineer in the Waterworks and Sewer System Revenue Bonds, Series 2000.
Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
