SUBJECT: DEVELOPMENT OF HOUSING IN PARIS

BACKGROLTND: Mayor Hashmi has requested this item be placed on the agenda for a
presentation and discussion of development of housing in Paris.
STATUS OF ISSUE: There have been a significant number of permits issued for new
construction of businesses, but not for residential construction. Taking into consideration the
number of people that will begin working at Skinner or returning to work at the plant, the City
needs to ensure there is adequate housing in Paris. In order to attract developers and builders to
construct new homes, we need to identify areas for residential development and consider a
reduction or waiver of fees for permits and other applicable services.
BUDGET: NA.
RECOMMENDATION: Provide direction to staff.
