RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE BUILDING AND
STANDARDS COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PARIS, MAKING OTHER
FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the l Oth day of June,
2002, in Ordinance No. 2002- , create a Building and Standards Commission to hear and
determine cases concerning alleged violations of Article III, Sections 7-46 Through 7-57,
entitled "Substandard and Dangerous Buildings and Structures"; and,
WHEREAS, the Building and Standards Commission shall consist of seven (7) members
appointed by the City Council, each of whom shall be a resident of the city of Paris, Texas, and,
as nearly as practical, shall be qualified in one or more of the fields of fire prevention, building
construction, sanitation, health and public safety, and historic preservation, and, as nearly as
practical, shall be selected one (1) each from each City Council District; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council shall also appoint four (4) alternate members of the
Commission who shall serve in the absence of one or more regular members when requested to
do so by the City Manager or a Code Inspector as the City Manager's designee; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council deems it appropriate to appoint and for terms of
one (1) year, beginning July 1, 2002, and ending June 30, 2003, or until their successors are
appointed; and for terms of two (2) years, beginning July 1, 2002, and ending June
30, 2004, or until their successors are appointed; and as alternate members for terms of one
(1) year, beginning July 1, 2002, and ending June 30, 2003, or until their successors are
appointed; and and as alternate members for terms of two (2) years, beginning July 1, 2002,
and ending June 30, 2004, or until their successors are appointed; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all
things approved.
Section 2. That and be, and they are hereby, appointed to the Building and
Standards Commission of the City of Paris for terms of one (1) year, beginning July 1, 2002, and
ending June 30, 2003.
Section 3. That and be, and they are hereby, appointed to the Building and
Standards Commission ofthe City of Paris forterms oftwo (2) year, beginning July 1, 2002, and
ending June 30, 2004.
Section 4. That and be, and they are hereby, appointed as alternate members to
the Building and Standards Commission of the City of Paris for terms of one (1) year, beginning
July 1, 2002, and ending June 30, 2003.
Section 5. That and be, and they are hereby, appointed as alternate members to the
Building and Standards Commission of the City of Paris for terms of two (2) year, beginning
July 1, 2002, and ending June 30, 2004.
Section 6. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
