COLLEGIATE DRIVE STREET PROJECT <br />DATE: May 14, 2013 <br />BACKGROIIND: The City of Paris City Council voted to sell certificates of obligation at the <br />October 12th, 2009 City Council meeting, for the reconstruction of S. Collegiate Drive between <br />Clarksville Street and Loop 286. The completed phase I project widened S. Collegiate Drive and <br />realigned it from Big Sandy Creek bridge south to Loop 286. This project was done in <br />coordination with the Texas Department of Transportation who realigned and widened Jefferson <br />Road (FM 1507). The phase I construction project was closed at the November 14, 2011 City <br />Council Meeting with a final project cost of $1,747,897.54. A total of $1,782,034.27 has been <br />spent to date, which leaves $923,507 in account. The City Council approved a contract with <br />Hayter Engineering at the February 25, 2013 City Council Meeting in the amount of $43,900 for <br />the design of Phase II, which includes S. Collegiate Drive between Clarksville Street and the Big <br />Sandy Creek bridge. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: Bids are going to be opened on May 16`h and City Council will be <br />provided a recommendation and bid tabulation at the City Council meeting. This proposed <br />project will include the complete roadway reconstruction of a portion of S. Collegiate Drive <br />between the Big Sandy Creek bridge and the start of the five-lane roadway. A plant mix seal <br />asphalt overlay is proposed for the existing five lane section of S. Collegiate Drive. Also <br />included is a second entrance into the Police and Court Building and a 23 space parking lot for <br />the Trail de Paris. <br />BUDGET: This will be funded from the remaining certificates of obligation funds. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Award a bid for the S. Collegiate Dr. Street project. <br />59 <br />
