ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY
OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING ARTICLES II
AND IV OF CHAPTER 11 THEREOF; REPEALING SECTION 11-44,
ELIMINATING THE REQUIREMENT FOR A BOND BY APPLICANTS
FOR ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS' LICENSES; REVISING SECTION 11-
91, PROVIDING FOR ADOPTION OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL
CODE, 2002 EDITION; REPEALING SECTION 11-92; MAKING OTHER
FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; PROVIDING
FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $2,000.00; REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH;
AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That Section 11-44 of Chapter 11, Article II, of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, repealed and declared of no further force and
effect.
Section 2. That Section 11-91 of Chapter 11, Article IV, of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended so that such shall read as follows:
"Sec. 11-91. National Electrical Code - Adoption
"(a) For the purpose of practical safeguarding of persons and of buildings and their
contents from hazards arising from the use of electricity for light, heat, power, radio,
signaling, and for other purposes, that certain electrical code knows as the National
Electrical Code, 2002 Edition, published by the National Fire Protection Association,
save and except such portions as are deleted, modified, or amended by this article, is
hereby adopted as the minimum standard for the city, and the same is hereby
incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein. A copy of such code has been and
is now on file in the office of the City Clerk, and the provisions thereof shall be
controlling in the installation of all electrical wiring, devices, and equipment within the
corporate limits of the city.
"(b) Any person violating any of the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be fined in any sum not to exceed two
thousand dollars ($2,000.00), and each and every day's continuance of any violation
of the above enumerated section shall constitute and be deemed a separate offense."
Section 3. That Section 11-92 of Chapter 11, Article II, of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, repealed and declared of no further force and
effect.
Section 4. That any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty
of a Misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be fined in any sum not to exceed $2,000.00, and each
and every day's continuance of any violation of the above enumerated section shall constitute and be
deemed a separate offense.
Section 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby expressly
repealed.
Section 6. That this ordinance shall become effective on December 1, 2002.
