RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE PLANNING AND
ZONING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PARIS TO SERVE THE
UNEXPIRED TERM OF WILLIAM H. COLEMAN, WHICH ENDS
DECEMBER 31, 2003; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS
RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, there exists a vacancy on the membership of the Planning and Zoning
Commission due to the resignation of William H. Coleman, and it is necessary to appoint his
successor; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Paris does hereby recommend the appointment of
Carl Lucas to serve the unexpired term of William H. Coleman, which ends December 31,2003;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things
approved.
Section 2. That Carl Lucas be, and he is hereby, appointed to serve the unexpired term
of William H. Coleman, which ends December 31, 2003, as a member of the Planning and
Zoning Commission of the City of Paris.
Section 3. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.

Dear Mayor Phiester,
The purpose of this letter is to notify the City of Paris that I will be unable to continue to
serve on the City's Plarming and Zoning Commission. Due to my involvement with
other community organizations, my church, and my children's activities; I have not been
able to fulfill my responsibilities with the P & Z Commission.
I would like to thank the City of Paris for the opportunity to serve on the commission and
will continue to support the planning and zoning efforts of the City as much as possible
through other means.
