RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, AWARDING THE BID FOR CONSTRUCTION OF THE
CONCRETE FLATWORK AND PARK AMENITIES, INCLUDING A
CONCRETE TRAIL, DRAIN PIPES, CONCRETE FLATWORK, PICNIC
STATIONS, AND PLAYGROUND, AS PART OF THE OVERALL
COMPLETION OF PHASE I OF THE PARIS SPORTS COMPLEX
PROJECT; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT FOR
SAID CONSTRUCTION; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS
RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 26th day of
January, 1995, in Resolution No. 95-018 approve and adopt the Parks and Recreational Master
Plan for the City of Paris; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council did heretofore, on the 9th day of April, 2001, in Resolution
No. 2001-044 ,authorize the preparation of plans and specification for the construction of Phase
I of the Paris Sports Complex Project; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council did heretofore, on the 17th day of March, 2003, in
Resolution No. 2003-060, approve the plans and specifications and authorize the advertisement
for bids for performing all work required for construction of Phase I of the Paris Sports
Complex, which bids were received until 2:00 o'clock p.m., Wednesday, the 16th day of April,
2003; and,
WHEREAS, the best bid for construction of the concrete flatwork and park amenities,
including a concrete trail, drain pipes, concrete flatwork, picnic stations, and playground, was
made by Hilliard & Sons Contractors, Inc. of Paris, Texas, and it should be awarded the bid for
the same; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble of this resolution are hereby in all
things approved.
Section 2. That the bid of Hilliard & Sons Contractors, Inc. for the construction of the
concrete flatwork and park amenities, including a concrete trail, drain pipes, concrete flatwork,
picnic stations, and playground, as part of the overall completion of Phase I of the Paris Sports
Complex Project, in the amount of $171,000.00, be, and the same is hereby, accepted and let
conditioned upon said contractor meeting all of the terms and specifications included in the bid
documents.
Section 3. That the Mayor be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, on
behalf of the City of Paris, the contract with Hilliard & Sons Contractors, Inc., under the terms
and conditions and in the form approved by the City Attorney.
Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after the date of passage.
