MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE LIBRARY
ADVISORY BOARD
July 23, 2003
The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session
Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at 4:00PM in the Library with Chairman
Nancee Salzman presiding. The following Board members were present:
Anna Davis, Sarah Gambill, Peggy Guthrie, Joyce Kennemer, and Walter
Williams. Also attending were Betty Landon, Library Director and Callie
Thompson, Friends President. Jackie Alsobrook, Kevin Gray and Vicki
Terlap did not attend.
The minutes from June's meeting were approved.
Louise Webb was introduced from the staff. Louise told board members
what her responsibilities were and a bit of history about her twenty-five
years with the library.
The budget report was reviewed. June circulation statistics were
significantly up from last year. The Summer Reading Program began the
first week in June and certainly contributed to the rise in circulation.
The Children's Department had a report for the entire Summer Reading
Program which ended July 11. During that six week period, the in-library
program held 18 programs with 852 children and 357 adults attending.
The Summer Mobile Program held 20 programs with 1352 children and
325 adults attending. Two of the programs had guest performers, a
magician and the Turtle Lady. These programs were paid for by the
Friends. In adult outreach, there were 3 programs which 47 attended.
Rebecca left materials including books, audio, and magazines this month.
We had 31 interlibrary transactions during June and 25 memorial
donations, totaling $585.
The board voted to return Nancee Salzman as Chairman and Vicki Terlap
as Secretary for the coming year. Jackie Alsobrook was elected as Vice-
Chairman. Sarah Gambill will serve as NETLS lay representative and
Jackie Alsobrook will continue as alternate lay representative.

In the Director's Report, Betty reported that she had given a presentation
at the Rotary Club on July 14.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:55 p.m.
The next meeting will be held on August 20 at 4 p.m. in the Gallery.
