10-E Historic Pres (5/20/03)MINUTES Tuesday, May 20, 2003 Meeting Historic Preservation Commission City of Paris, Texas Paris Junior College, Applied Technologies Building, Room 1206 Item One: The meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, chairman at 4:05 P.M. Item Two: The roll was called by Paul Denney, Recording Secretary. The following Commission members were present: Arvin Starrett Paul Denney Claudia Hunt Jerry Raper Barbara Wilson The following Commission members were absent: Sue Lancaster Ann Rogers Linda Ryan Becki Norment The following quest was present: Steve Shoemake Item Three: Arvin Starrett presented a proposed correction to item #3 of the Apri125, 2003 meeting minutes. Item Three was corrected to read as follows: "Commission members discussed the Apri13, 2003 public hearing. The Commission would be acting to add the class 'HD' (Historic District) to the correct roster of categories in the City of Paris Zoning Ordinance." The Apri125, 2003 Minutes were approved as amended. Barbara Wilson put forth the motion for approval. 7erry Raper seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously. Page 1 of 3 May 20, 2003 Meeting Item Four: Six properties considered dangerous by the City of Paris code inspectors were presented for review by the Commission as to rehabilitation and historical designation. These were located at the following addresses: 721 E. Washington, 3171 Lamar Ave., 2600 Pine Bluff, 933 E. Grove, 2306 W. Kaufman, 1702 W. Houston Commission members agreed that none of the six properties in question were significant or were able to be rehabilitated. Discussion and voting to this effect was carried out for each of the six properties as follows: A. 721 E. Washington Motion: Barbara Wilson Second: Claudia Hunt Unanimous Vote B. 3171 Lamar Ave. Motion: Barbara Wilson Second: Paul Denney Unanimous Vote C. 2600 Pine Bluff Motion: Paul Denney Second: Barbara Wilson Unanimous Vote D. 933 E. Grove Motion: Claudia Hunt Second: Barbara Wilson Unanimous Vote E. 2306 W. Kaufman Motion: Barbara Wilson Second: Claudia Hunt Unanimous Vote F. 1702 W. Houston Motion: Paul Denney Second: Barbara Wilson Unanimous Vote Item Five: Historic Survey update proposals were reviewed and discussed. No action was taken on these proposals. Item Six: Stand-alone historic structures were discussed for possible inclusion in a list to be considered for future ordinance protection. No action was taken on this item.
