10-A Airport Board (9/16/03) REGULAR MEETING AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD COX FIELD AIRPORT TERMINAL MEETING ROOM TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2003 6:00 P.M. The Airport Advisory Board Meeting was called to order by Chairman, Victor Abeles at 6:00 P.M. mo The following members were present: Vic Ressler J.W. Ashmore J.B. Richey Victor Abeles Don Morrell James Proctor Andrew Fasken Bo The following members were absent: None Also present was Tommy Haynes, Airport Director, Jim Collier, Airport Manager, and Jerry Richey. ° The minutes of the July 22, 2003, meeting were presented to the Board. A motion was made by J.B. Richey and seconded by J. W. Ashmore, to approve the minutes. The motion passed 7-0 by the Board. o Feedback on the lighting of the self service fuel system was given by the Advisory Board members. All the comments received were very positive and everyone is happy with the lighting. ° Feedback of reflectors on the North and South taxiways and near the self service fuel system was given by the Advisory Board members. The reflectors on the North and South taxiways and near the self service fuel system work fine. The yellow paint is not reflective paint and the ground up beads do not reflect. However, the yellow strips can be seen by the taxi light and is helpful going to the hangars. Mr. Haynes reported on the status on repair of rubber boot at top of hangars B-7 and B-9 to avoid water standing in hangars. We have continued to contact Pete Miller and have decided that Mr. Miller is not going to be available so we have gone to a second source; Mark Cunningham, for a price quote. Mr. Haynes reported on the status of ILS approach at Cox Field. He stated that he had talked to several people at the FAA office in Fort Worth. The ball park cost of this system is $1,500,000 to $2,000,000. There are no grants that will fund this amount and the FAA would have to have a need for it. Our number of operations do not qualify us for this system. Jerry Richey advised that the WAAS system is a vertical navigation GPS precision approach. You would have to have instrument approach lights for 17. Jerry Richey advised that he has an article on the WAAS system and will bring the information to us to contact the proper people. Chairman Abeles requested items from the Board for future agenda items. Mr. Ashmore requested a sub committee be appointed to meet with the City Attorney and the Airport Director to discuss the private hangars policy. Several airports are selling or leasing the land to people who will build their private hangars and be put on the tax rolls immediately. Victor Abeles appointed Vic Ressler and Andy Fasken to meet with City Attorney and Airport Director regarding the private hangar policy. 8. The meeting adjourned at 6:30 P.M. Thomas E.
