RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A PURCHASE
ORDER THROUGH THE HOUSTON-GALVESTON AREA COUNCIL OF
GOVERNMENTS FOR THE PURCHASE OF THREE (3) MODEL YEAR
2004 POLICE PACKAGE CHEVROLET IMPALAS FOR USE IN THE
PATROL DIVISION OF THE PARIS POLICE DEPARTMENT; MAKING
OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Paris has been a member of the Cooperative Purchasing Program
through the Houston-Galveston Area Council of Governments since October 1, 1990; and,
WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate the City of Paris purchase three (3) Model Year 2004
Police Package Chevrolet Impalas through said Houston-Galveston Area Council of Governments
for use in the Patrol Division of the Paris Police Department; and,
WHEREAS, it is further deemed appropriate the City Manager be authorized to execute a
purchase order for three (3) Model Year 2004 Police Package Chevrolet Impalas for use in the Patrol
Division of the Paris Police Department for a total purchase price of $51,147.00, including the cost
of the vehicles in the amount of $50,547.00, plus the cost of the Houston-Galveston Area Council
of Governments fee in the amount of $600.00; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things
approved.
Section 2. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute,
on behalf of the City of Paris, a purchase order through the Houston-Galveston Area Council of
Governments for the purchase of three (3) Model Year 2004 Police Package Chevrolet Impalas for
use in the Patrol Division of the Paris Police Department for a total purchase price of $51,147.00,
including the cost of the vehicles in the amount of $50,547.00, plus the cost of the Houston-
Galveston Area Council of Governments fee in the amount of $600.00.
Section 3. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.

As you know, we were approved for four new police cars in our budget
this year, however,, we are only purchasing three at this time as we
stated that we would be willing to sacrifice one new car as part of our
new pay re-classification request. Therefore, I am requesting that we be
allowed to purchase three (3) new 2004 Chevrolet Impala Police
Package Vehicles. I am recommending that we purchase the vehicles
through the HGAC (Houston - Galveston Area Council of
Governments), in which we are a member. These vehicles are very close
to the same price as last year and our local dealership said they
wouldn't be able to meet or beat the HGAC price at that time. These
vehicles have already been bid and will cost the following:
3 - 2004 Chevrolet Impalas (Police Package) = $16,849.00 (per unit)
HGAC fee total (see attached sheet)
= $600.00
Total Cost
= $51,147.00
