<br />RESOLUTION NO.
<br />
<br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
<br />PARIS, TEXAS, REAPPOINTING SIMS NORMENT TO A THREE (3) YEAR
<br />TERM ENDING DECEMBER 31, 2006, AND APPOINTING ALAN BOYD TO
<br />SERVE THE UNEXPIRED TERM OF MELBA HARRIS, WHICH ENDS
<br />DECEMBER 31, 2004, AS MEMBERS OF THE FIRE FIGHTERS' AND
<br />POLICE OFFICERS' CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
<br />PARIS; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO
<br />THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the term of office of Sims Norment, as a member of the Fire Fighters' and
<br />Police Officers' Civil Service Commission of the City of Paris, will expire on December 31,
<br />2003; and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, there exists an additional vacancy on the membership of the Fire Fighters'
<br />and Police Officers' Civil Service Commission of the City of Paris due to the resignation of
<br />Melba Harris, and it is necessary to appoint her successor; and,
<br />
<br /> WHEREAS, the City Manager of the City of Paris, Michael E. Malone, in accordance
<br />with the authority granted in Section 143.006(b) of the Local Government Code, has reappointed
<br />Sims Norment for a term of three (3) years, beginning January 1, 2004, and ending December
<br />31,2006, and has appointed Alan Boyd to serve the unexpired term of Melba Harris, which ends
<br />December 31, 2004, and has submitted the names of such persons to the City Council for
<br />confirmation; NOW, THEREFORE,

<br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
<br />TEXAS:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things
<br />approved.
<br />
<br /> Section 2. That the reappointment of Sims Norment as a member of the Fire Fighters'
<br />and Police Officers' Civil Service Commission of the City of Paris, for a term of three (3) years,
<br />beginning January 1, 2004, and ending December 31, 2006, be, and the same is hereby,
<br />confirmed.
<br />
<br /> Section 3. That the appointment of Alan Boyd as a member of the Fire Fighters' and
<br />Police Officers' Civil Service Commission of the City of Paris, to serve the unexpired term of
<br />Melba Harris, which ends December 31, 2004, be, and the same is hereby, confirmed.
<br />
<br />Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
