Call meeting to order Jill Drake 4:21 p.m. 2. Role taken. Quorum established. 3. Citizens Forum: consolidated with Item #5. 4. Approval of minutes of April 8, 2014. Motion to approve by Nancy Waldrum and second by Beartrice Ardila. Motion carried. 5. BIG Application: Jed and Kara Irwin were present to answer any questions regarding their request. The application is for $5,000 to help repair roof leaking and to upgrade the electric circuit box. The Irwins plan to put a 24/7 Internet Cafe in the part of the building that is currently the "sanctuary" of the old church. They hope the building will be code -ready by 2016 to open during the 2016 fire commemoration events. The Board has requested that the Irwins provide a Business Plan to the Board for review. This item will be tabled until the next meeting. Karie Raulston abstained from the discussion due to a conflict of interest. 6. Resignation of Ashlea Mattoon received and Board opening will be addressed in upcoming City Council meeting. 7. Coordinator report: a. TDA Regional Round Table was held April 22, 2014 9am - 2:30pm. Fifty professionals attended to hear our Chamber describe our successful Shop Local program and took a tour of downtown. b. Design renderings were completed for 134 Kaufinan and 101 Grand Ave. A request was made for a rendering for the removal of the facade in the old drive thru area at 124 1St SW owned by Claudia and Richard Hunt. c. Farmers Market opening day was a success. 300 - 400 — people came thru. The main push for operating hours will be Saturdays from Sam to noon all summer and Wednesdays 5- 7pm beginning June and thru the second week of July. The market is open to vendors 7 days a week, should they so desire. d. Preservation Month Proclamation – Karie will provide details in Promotions report. e. Grand Theatre: stucco and banding are up and the marqee is waiting to be installed. f. Benches and trash receptacles have been places on Clarksville St and the plaques look great! This is a continuing fundraiser with benches $975 and trash receptacles $775. 8. Committee Reports a. Organization —Jill Drake reported this c'tee will take on the Pumpkin patch in October as the Paris Baby owners are unable to continue with this event this year. A fundraising event will be held on Sept 6 to raise funds for downtown restrooms and promote community art projects. Thank you notes were sent to all volunteers of the Wine fest and Maxey Easter. b. Design: The downtown business owners have been given a 6/20/14 date to pay a one time $30 fee to have their name on the facade of the building on the brochure /map. The cost of $3500 for 10,000 brochures /maps could be reduced if business owners will participate. c. Promotions: Karie Raulston reported that a treasure hunt is in the works for Preservation Month. Photos of "snippets" of buildings will be put out on a Facebook challenge entitled "Getting to know your City ". After this event, postcards will be made of the photos and sold as a fundraiser for downtown restrooms. The idea of "It's a Wonderful City" based upon the movie, "It's a Wonderful Life" is being developed for a future preservation project. d. ER: no report e. HPC: Beatrice Ardilla reported that no meeting was held since the last board meeting. f. Chamber: no report 9. 2016 draft letter was approved. Discussion held re: item on website for audio /video remembrances of the fire 10.
