06/10/2014 MINUTESMeeting Minutes of the Main Street Advisory Board 107 Kaufman St Paris Texas City Council Chambers Tuesday, June 10, 2014 Present: Beatrice Ardila Jerry Coyle Jill Drake Karie Raulston Nancy Waldrum Cheri Bedford, Main Street Manager Absent: Matt Coyle- Chairman Becky Semple, Chamber Liasion Guests: Jed and Kara Irwin 1. Call meeting to order Jill Drake 4:15 p.m. 2. Role taken. Quorum established. Cheri announced Matt Coyle resigned, effective immediately. 3. Citizens Forum: consolidated with Item #5. 4. Approval of minutes of May, 13 2014. Motion to approve by Nancy Waldrum and second by Karie Raulston. Motion carried. 5. BIG Application: a motion was made by Jill Drake to recuse Karie Raulston from the discussion due to a conflict of interest. Second by Jerry Coyle. Motion carried. Karie left the room. Jed and Kara Irwin were present to provide the business plan requested at the last meeting and to answer any questions regarding their request. A copy of the plan will be attached to the minutes to provide a record. A motion was made by Jill Drake to approve $4,500 of the request to be used for the roof repair. Second by Jerry Coyle. Motion carried. Karie Raulston came back into the room following the discussion and motion. 6. Coordinator report: a. Cheri attended the National Main Street Meeting in Detroit. She would like the Board to concentrate on ways to develop and retain our volunteers. She would like each Board member to recruit volunteers for our 4 committees. She brought back many ideas — two were Art for the price of a pica and the idea to make digital copies of the Bywaters murals in the library and get them hung in a public place like the side of the building facing the Methodist church parking lot where construction of a new city park will begin soon. Beatrice will help with this project. b. Farmers Market was very active last weekend with Bike to the Market Day. Don't forget it will be open Wednesdays 5 -7pm beginning June and thru the second week of July. Electrical improvements will be made to the facility. c. Downtown restrooms: the estimate for the restrooms to be built at the new parking lot park is $45,000. Archer /Smallwood construction will work with us to reduce this cost. d. Junk in the Trunk was held on Friday June 6 and St June 7 — pretty successful for an inaugural event — 12 vendors on Saturday. Most likely only Saturday next year. e. Nomination forms are in the packets for Texas Downtown Assoc. Awards. Please review and nominate a business or person or event as you see fit. 7. Committee Reports a. Organization —Jill Drake described the Six Squared fundraising event to be held on Sept 6 to raise funds for downtown restrooms and promote community art projects. Flyers to be placed in Tour de Paris bags needs editing. Please review and provide comments. Free downtown WiF1 is being investigated. Mannequin Nights are planned for October. Details to follow. Letter to community members re: 1916 fire will be presented to the mayor to see if he can be the contact person for the large committee. b. Design: Nancy Waldrum reported that the downtown map has been printed and is in the editing stage. Copies were distributed to Bd members. Bench /trash can project ongoing. c. Promotions: Karie Raulston reported that there was a winner for the architectural scavenger hunt. Postcards will be made of old photos and sold as a fundraiser for downtown restrooms. Movies in the Park will start this week. Sign Up Genius has worked very well for volunteers — few more needed to fill in spots. d. ER: no report Once the new board members are seated, a new c'tee head for this c'tee must be named e. HPC: Beatrice Ardila reported that a meeting was scheduled for June 11 and the ghost murals, new City hall window replacements, demolitions of properties are all on the agenda. f.
