MINUTES OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF
THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
March 31, 2004
The Special Meeting of the Civil Service Commission of the City of Paris was held
at 1 :00 p.m., on Wednesday, March 31,2004, in the City Council Room at City Hall,
located at 135 1" Street SE, Paris, Texas.
Members of the Commission present were Philip Cecil, and Sims Norment. Also
present was Interim City Manager, Terry Townsend; City Attorney, Larry Schenk, and
Melba Harris.
Chairperson Philip Cecil called the meeting to order at 1:10 P.M.
Mr. Sims Norment made a motion to accept the resignation of Tommy Haynes as the
Civil Service Director. He noted that a copy of the resignation had been attached to
their agendas. The motion was seconded by Philip Cecil and passed.
Mr. Norment made a motion to appoint Melba Harris as the Civil Service Director.
It was noted that Ms. Harris had served as a member of the commission for a
number of years and that she was now an employee of the City of Paris. The motion
was seconded by Philip Cecil and passed.
Philip Cecil asked Mr. Townsend to relay this appoint to the City Council.
Mr. Norment made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 1:16 P.M.
