ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS, ABANDONING THE CITY'S INTEREST IN A PORTION OF A THIRTY (30)
FOOT WIDE STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY KNOWN AS 27111 STREET N.E., BEGINNING
A T THE SOUTH BOUNDARY LINE OF PINE BLUFF STREET, AND GOING SOUTH
APPROXIMATELY 150.5 FEET TO THE NORTH BOUNDARY LINE OF LOT 10, CITY
BLOCK 255-A; DECLARING NO NECESSITY OR NEED OF SAID STREET FOR CITY
USE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF JUNE 1, 2004.
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Council of the City of Paris
that a portion of a thirty (30) foot wide street right-of-way known as 27th Street N.E., beginning
at the South Boundary Line of Pine Bluff Street and going South approximately 150.5 feet to the
North Boundary Line of Lot 10, City Block 255-A, is of no use as a street to the City of Paris or
to its citizens, and the City Council so finds; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris has received a petition from adjacent
property owners requesting that the City's interest in the aforesaid portion of the thirty (30) foot
wide street right-of-way be abandoned from the South Boundary Line of Pine Bluff Street South
to the North Boundary Line of Lot 10, City Block 255-A; and,
WHEREAS, the Planning & Zoning Commission did, at 5:30 p.m. on the 3rd day of
May, 2004, conduct a public hearing to allow interested citizens and members of the public to
comment for and against the proposal to abandon the aforesaid street; and,
WHEREAS, following the public hearing conducted by the Planning & Zoning
Commission, the Commission having reviewed the proposed abandonment, recommended to the
City Council of the City of Paris that the City abandon the aforesaid street; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris likewise conducted a public hearing on
the 6th day of May, 2004, to receive comments from citizens and members of the general public
for and against the proposal to abandon the aforesaid street; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council, having received the recommendation of the Planning and
Zoning Commission, hereby determines that it is in the best interest of the citizens and the City
of Paris to abandon the aforesaid street; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all
things approved.
Section 2. That the City's interest in a portion of a thirty (30) foot wide street right-of-
way known as 27th Street N. E., beginning at the South Boundary Line of Pine Bluff Street and
going South approximately 150.5 feet to the North Boundary Line of Lot 10, City Block 255-A,
described in Exhibit A, attached hereto, is found to be of no use as an street to the City of Paris
or its citizens, and therefore, such street is hereby abandoned.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall become effective on June 1, 2004.

DESCRIPTION OF ALLEY/STREET TO BE CLOSED
SITUATED within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, County of
Lamar, and State of Texas, being a part of the City Block 255-A (formerly known
as the L. Townsend Addition), and being a portion of a thirty (30) foot wide street
known as 27th Street N. E. from the South Boundary Line of Pine Bluff Street going
South approximately 150.5 feet to the North Boundary Line of Lot 10, City Block
255-A, being more particularly described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point for corner in the South Boundary Line of Pine
Bluff Street, also being the Northwest corner of Lot 13-A, City Block 255-A;
THENCE South along the West Boundary Line of said Lot 13-A, a distance
of 150.5 feet to a point in the North Boundary Line of Lot 10, also being the
Southwest corner of said Lot 13-A;
THENCE West along the North Boundary Line of said Lot 10, a distance
of 30 feet to a point for corner being the Southeast corner of Lot 12, City Block
255-A;
THENCE North along the East Boundary Line of said Lot 12, a distance
of 150.5 feet to a point in the South Boundary Line of Pine Bluff Street, also being
the Northeast corner of said Lot 12;
THENCE East along the South Boundary Line of Pine Bluff Street a
distance of 30 feet to the place of beginning and containing approximately 4,515
square feet of land.

TO THE HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
WE, the undersigned owners of property adjacent to a portion of a thirty (30) foot street
known as 27th Street N.E., running north and south beginning at the South Boundary Line of Pine
Bluff Street at the northeast corner of Lot 13-A, City Block 255-A going south to the North
Boundary Line of Lot 10, City Block 255-A, a distance of approximately 169.2 feet, do hereby
petition the City of Paris to abandon the same.
