Meeting Minutes
July 16, 2014
Opening:
The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order at 4:00 p.m.
Present:
Board members present were Rebecca Umphrey, Mike Pendleton, Carol James, Connie Dodd, Denise
Kornegay, director Priscilla McAnally, and council liaison A. J. Hashmi. Absent were Fran Neeley
and Ann Norment.
Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as presented.
II. New Business:
A. New board members were introduced — Rebecca Umphrey, Mike Pendleton, and Denise
Kornegay.
B. Officers were elected: Chair — Fran Neeley; Vice -Chair — Connie Dodd; Secretary —
Denise Kornegay
III. Old Business:
Revision to library policy concerning new patron cards and interlibrary loan was discussed.
New card holders must wait at least three months before they can participate in interlibrary
loan.
IV. Presentations
A. Budget Report.
Ms. McAnally discussed the June 2014 budget report with the board and answered
many questions. She clarified the two trust funds and discussed long -range plans for
expansion of the library.
B. Statistical Report shows a circulation increase of 3.07% but a decrease in library visits
of 14.5% showing that fewer patrons are checking out more books. There is also a new
line on the statistical report for the number of Webpage logins of 462 for June.
V. Friends of the Library:
The co- chairs of the Friends of the Library, Amanda Green and Jeannie Walter, were not in
attendance, so there was no report.
VI. Director's Remarks:
a. Roof repair —Two companies looked at the roof but only one (Quality Roofing)
submitted a quote. The cost for the repairs will be $6200.
b. Clerk positions — One full -time Clerk 1 position was filled by Dee Dee Brock, but a
part-time clerk position is still open.
c. Art appraisal — On Monday, July 21, the art in the library will be appraised.
