Meeting Minutes
October 29, 2014
Opening:
The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order at 4:00 p.m.
Present:
Board members present were Fran Neeley, Connie Dodd, Denise Kornegay, Ann Norment, Rebecca
Umphrey, Carol James, Mike Pendleton, and director Priscilla McAnally. Amanda Green from the
Friends of the Library was also in attendance.
I. Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as presented.
II. New Business:
A. Staff Introductions
i. Tracy Hoffart, Children's Librarian. Tracy has been with the library for eight
years. She manages the Children's Library, selects and orders materials, and
coordinates all programs. She presents Story Time every Wednesday at 10:30
for 3 -5yr olds. Her biggest need is a larger space for programs.
ii. Judy Vickers, Acquisitions /Circulation Desk Paraprofessional. Judy has been
with the library for 27 years, and her main role is Acquisitions. She manages the
circulation desk, shelves books, works the reference desk, and is responsible for
time sheets for employees. With acquisitions, she ensures that new materials are
added to the library holdings accurately and efficiently.
III. Old Business:
None
IV. Presentations:
A. Budget Report. Ms. McAnally presented the end of year budget. The FY 2015 budget
will be much the same as FY 2014 with $105,000 for materials.
B. Statistical Report. Both circulation and visits are significantly higher than last year.
Circulation increased 11.02 %, and visits increased by 7.95 %.
V. Friends of the Library:
Amanda Green from Friends of the Library reported the following:
A. The Friends have calendars available.
B. Friends are also working with Ms. McAnally to have a "One Town -One Book"
program.
VI. Director's Remarks:
Cards with new library hours will be distributed to patrons beginning November 3.
