11/18/2014 MINUTESMeeting Minutes of the Main Street Advisory Board 107 Kaufman St Paris Texas City Council Chambers Tuesday, November 18, 2014 Present: Jerry Coyle Jill Drake Glee Eminite Katie Raulston Missy Starnes Nancy Waldrum Cheri Bedford, Main Street Manager Becky Semple, Chamber Liaison Benny Plata, City Council Absent: Beatrice Ardila Visitor: Lauren Corbell- -Paris News 1. Call meeting to order Jill Drake at 4:20pm 2. Role taken by Cheri Bedford. Quorum established. 3. Citizens Forum: none noted. 4. Approval of minutes of October 14, 2014. Motion was made by Nancy Waldrum seconded by Missy Starnes motion carried. 5. Coordinator report: Cheri Bedford: a. Christmas Tree Lighting was November 7, 2014. There are many activities planned for the season. Please check HolidayInParisTexas.com for details. Trees in plaza are amazing thanks to city crew who worked extra -long to accomplish this. b. Texas Downtown Association: Grant was awarded to Paris on Nov 6th at their Annual Meeting Amount was $5000. This will go to the restroom project. c. PDA- Antique Fair update. Meeting was at Spangler's new location Nov 12, 2014. Antique Fair profits were $8,000 to go to restroom project. d. Katie Raulston to step down as Promotions but to remain on board. Met Monday night about plans for Santa Paws. e. Sidewalk project to begin soon f. Strategic planning date -be thinking about a date and time in Jan. 2015 to seat down and map our plans and goals. g. Restroom fundraising effort - Churches plans for a park were approved and submitted to HPC. To date the fund has $33000.00 h. Small Business Saturday - joined the neighborhood as a champion -to promote for the Saturday after Thanksgiving details to follow watch your emails. IPad to be given away -Entry forms will be available for participating businesses. 6. Committee Reports: a. Organization Jill Drake- met for November 5 -goal to promote volunteerism and recognize the volunteers by writing thank you to those who helped make Pumpkin Fest a success. b. Design: Nancy Waldrum -- working on a t -shirt design for volunteers. c. Promotions: Katie Raulston— Mannequin Night was a huge success- plans to move to Saturday evening next year. Dec 4 Carriage Rides will be available ti18:00pm sponsored by the Paris Art Alliance for First Thursday. December 13th Santa Paws time moved to noon – Plans are moving along for the Wassail Fest. There is a meeting at 6 pm Monday for the Downtown Dollar Promotions -- Business interested in being involved need to attend -- held at the Carriage House. d. Economic Restructure: Jerry Coyle -- no report. e. HPC: Beatrice Ardila - -no report. f. Chamber Report: Becky Semple -- Drawing December 13th will be at 6:00 pm for $5,000 and at $7:00pm for the $10,000. Looking for door prizes to be given out between and up to the drawing time. Discussion on Fire events 2016: Cheri, Becky and Larry Rice, Fire Chief met to discuss the date of the Anniversary of the Fire is to be a date of remembrance March 21, 2016. The idea is to make it a year of celebration of Recovery Year Theme -- resources for ideas and committee members should be Louise Hagood , August Hunt, Marvin Gotley. Each month could be an event to celebrate the recovery, Wine Fest, 1916 Fashion Show. Promotion Committee Chair: Katie Raulston tendered her resignation as Chairman of the Promotion Committee. It was accepted with regret. Missy Starnes was nominated to be Chairman -- it was moved by Glee Emmite and seconded by Nancy Waldrum. Motion Carried. 9.
