Meeting Minutes
December 17, 2014
Opening:
The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order at 4:05 p.m.
Present:
Board members present were Fran Neeley, Connie Dodd, Carol James, Rebecca Umphrey, Ann
Norment, and director Priscilla McAnally. Absent were Denise Kornegay and Mike Pendleton.
I. Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as presented.
II. New Business:
A. Staff Introductions
i. Leigh Igo, Library Paraprofessional - Reference. Leigh had previously worked
at the library prior to returning in 2009. Her main job focus is reference, but in
addition she shelves materials, handles interlibrary loans, assists with
memorials, and fills in at the public access computers desk.
ii. Rebecca Taylor, Library Paraprofessional — Cataloging. Rebecca has her
teaching certificate and had previously worked as an educator at the Caldwell
Zoo in Tyler before coming to work at the library in 2001. She catalogs all print
materials, shelves materials, works the circulation desk as scheduled, fills in for
the children's librarian at scheduled story times, and is the caretaker of the fish
tank in the children's room.
III. Old Business:
In FY 2013 -2014 the number of library patrons using their cards was 4,859;
from October i through November 30, 2014 that number was 1,701.
IV. Presentations.
A. No unusual expenditures for Octobers.
B. Statistical Report. Both circulation and visits were higher than last year. Circulation
increased 1.73 %, and visits increased by 1.36 %.

VI. Director's Remarks:
The "John Chisum" painting by Jerry Bywaters is currently at Helen Houp Fine Art
Conservation in Dallas.
Reminder of the change in library hours starting January 2, 2015 — with the main changes
being on Monday (open an hour later, until 6 p.m.) and Thursday (opening an hour earlier
at 9 a.m. and closing at 6 p.m. instead of 8 p.m.)
