09/02/2008City of Paris Safety Committee Meeting September 2, 2008 City Council Conference Room Call meeting to order @ 3:05 pm. Roll Call: Present: Priscilla McAnally, Todd Varner, Darrel Dickerson, Mike Wade, Amy Samis, Melba Harris, Kellie Newman, Matt Birch, Absent: Dale Maberry, Tim Moore, Jason Barber • Last meeting minutes approved. Reviewed 1St report of injuries for August August 2008 2 Report Only 2 Medical Reports Priscilla received an email from an employee regarding a storage building at Public Works. Employee advised there was an HTH Chlorine chemical smell in the building. Todd inspected the storage building. All chemicals were in containers with lids and he could not smell anything. However, there is no ventilation in the building and that problem will be addressed. Maybe relocate the chemicals. Safety Committee Meeting will be rescheduled from this point forward on the first Thursday of every month. • Discussed facilities that the Safety Committee will tour. Facilities committee will be touring are as follows: 1.) Wastewater Treatment Plant 2.) Public Works 3.) Warehouse 4.) Library 5.) City Hall 6.) City Hall Annex 7.) Water Billing Office 8.) Police Department 9.) Fire Department • Priscilla advised the committee that she will email a copy of Jason Barber's safety recommendations for committee members' review. • Doug Harris took the committee to the location where the drowning accident occurred. After a brief explanation of the accident he answered questions from the committee. Based on the committee's discussion, Jason volunteered to come up with some safety recommendations that could benefit all city departments. • Melba advised she has scheduled a "Reasonable Suspicion Training" for Friday August 22nd. • Kellie and Alny are working on getting a schedule for the CPR training. • Todd provided the slogans for the Safety Plan that have been presented so far. The deadline for submitting entries is August 15th. The Committee will consider slogans during the September meeting and make a selection. • Future agenda items are the recommendations that Jason will present to the committee and the consideration of a safety slogan.
