1. Call meeting to order @ 3:02 pm.
2. Roll Call:
Present: Dale Maberry, Priscilla McAnally, Jason Barber, Steve Wood, Amy
Samis, Darrel Dickerson, Todd Varner, Tim Moore, Melba Harris, Kelly Newman
Matt Birch: Absent
3. Reviewed previous meeting minutes
■ Addition: Department heads will provide names to City Manager and Manager
will approve nominations for committee members whose terms are up.
Motion by Priscilla to approve previous meeting's minutes
2nd by Darrel Dickerson

4. Reviewed 1St Report of Injury for April 2008.
■ 5 — "Report Only"
■ 2 — "Medical Reports"
5. Discussed Sharps training and containers. Amy will order Sharps containers for Public
Works after getting Kelly Newman's opinion on containers to purchase for mobile units.
Discussed safety video rental from TML; Department is allowed to keep videos for 21
days.
Dale will get information for committee from the "Emerson Library" in Austin, Texas.
He will also look for Sharps information there.
6. Manager approved 3 positions: Jason Barber — Renewed (3 yr term)
Kelly Newman — Renewed (3 yr term)
Steve Wood — Replaced with Michael Wade,
"Street Department" Employee (3 yr term)

8. Discussed scheduling of Safety Policy Meetings with Department Heads, Employees and
City Manager.
Todd Varner advised the City Manager had suggested 1 to 2 per month.
9. Melba Harris advised committee she had sent out information request to other cities
regarding incentives to offer employees. She has not got a response from the cities yet.
Todd Varner contacted Grand Prairie and Priscilla McAnally contacted Cedar Hill. They
presented information to the committee from both cities for their review.
10. Discussed CPR training and defibrillators for various departments. Kelly Newman will
send out an email regarding the defibrillators to Department Heads. Kelly advised the
cost for a portable defibrillator is usually $1,000 to $1,300. Kelly Newman will get
information for Amy Samis regarding CPR training for Public Works.
11. Priscilla made a motion to Adjourn.
Meeting adjourned at 3:50 pm.
