09/03/2013 MINUTESMinutes Traffic Commission City of Paris The Traffic Commission met on Tuesday, September 03, 2013 at 5:15 P.M. in the Municipal Courtroom with the following members present: 1. Ken Kohls 2. Kenneth Millsap (5:20pm) 3. Barry Shiver 4. Jimmy Hodges 5. Joe McCarthy The city staff was represented by Asst. Chief Randy Tuttle. Chairman Kohls called the meeting to order at 5:16pm. A quorum was established with four members present. Mr. Millsap arrived at 5:20pm. Mr. Kohls moved to item #2 the introduction of new Traffic Commission member. Mr. Tuttle introduced Mr. Barry Shiver as having been re- appointed to the Traffic Commission until June 30, 2016. Mr. Kohls then moved to item #3 regarding the approval of minutes from the June 04, 2013 and July 02, 2013 meetings. Mr. McCarthy made a motion to approve minutes from both meetings. Mr. Hodges second the motion and it passed 4 -0 Mr. Kohls moved to item #4 regarding the discussion and possible action regarding the installation of warnings signs in the curve near Old Jefferson Road and New Jefferson Road. Mr. Tuttle informed members that Ms. Hamby had received a complaint about the curve not having a sign warning of the curve and motorists have almost driven off the road at night because of the darkness and no signs warning of the curve ahead. After discussion Mr. Shiver made a motion to place a sign warning of the curve for eastbound traffic on Old Jefferson prior to entering the curve. Mr. Hodges second the motion and it passed 5 -0. Mr. Kohls moved to item #5 regarding any old business. Mr. Shiver had a question as to the status of the request to close the crossover in 5000 block SE Loop 286. Mr. Tuttle advised members that he had recently discussed the issue with TXDOT Area Engineer Richard Harper and they were still working on the issue and trying to obtain funding. There was no other old business to discuss. Mr. Kohis moved to item #6 regarding future agenda items. There were no future agenda items. Mr. Kohis then moved to adjourn the meeting. Mr. McCarthy made a motion to adjourn and Mr. Shiver second the motion which carried 5 -0. Minutes Traffic Commission City of Paris The Traffic Commission met on Tuesday, December 03, 2013 at 5:15 P.M. in the Municipal Courtroom with the following members present: 1. Kenneth Millsap 2. Barry Shiver 3. Joe McCarthy 4. Susan Hamby The city staff was represented by Asst. Chief Randy Tuttle. City Councilwoman Cleonne Drake was present as council liaison. Vice Chairman McCarthy called the meeting to order at 5:15pm. A quorum was established with four members present. Mr. McCarthy then moved to item #2 regarding the approval of minutes from the November 12, 2013 meeting. Ms. Hamby made a motion to approve minutes and Mr. Millsap second the motion and it passed 4 -0 Mr. McCarthy moved to item #3 regarding the discussion and possible action regarding traffic signs on streets intersecting the Trail de Paris within the City of Paris. Mr. Shiver requested this item on the agenda to review the traffic signs at streets intersecting the Trail de Paris. Mr. Tuttle showed members photographs recently taken on each street intersecting the Trail de Paris. Traffic warning signs were included in the photographs. City of Paris Traffic Supervisor Edwayne Samis attended the meeting and informed members that there were plans to replace all signs on city streets intersecting the Trail de Paris. Mr. Samis said the new signs would be brighter and more visible to motorists. After discussion among members there was no action taken on this item. Mr. McCarthy moved to item #4 regarding old business. There was no old business to discuss. Mr. McCarthy then moved to item #5 regarding any future agenda items. There were no future agenda items. Mr. McCarthy then moved to adjourn the meeting. Ms. Hamby made a motion at 6:15pm to adjourn and Mr. Shiver second the motion which carried 4 -0.
