TRAFFIC COMMISSION
Tuesday, February 3, 1998
5:15 o'clock P.M.
Council Room - City Hall
The Traffic Commission met in regular session, Tuesday, February 3, 1998 with the following
members present:
1. Charles Thompson
2. Mary Lane
3.George Robinson
4. Edward Ellis
S. Rickey Mackey
6. Pam Campbell
The city staff was represented by Assistant Chief of Police James Barnett.
Chairman George Robinson called the meeting to order at 5:15 P.M.
The Minutes of the November 4, 1997 meeting were approved as submitted.
The first item for consideration was a request for Stop Signs at the intersection of 1St Street N.E.
and East Oak, stopping North and South bound traffic on 1" N.E. at Oak. Assistant Chief Barnett
explained that Stop Signs had been placed there, temporarily, by The Chief of Police due to
complaints from residents of the area concerning trucks from a business in the area and other
traffic at the intersection almost wrecking since no one knew who has the right -of -way.
After discussion, Ed Ellis made the motion to leave the signs there. Charles Thompsons
seconded and the motion carried 6 ayes to 0 nays.
The next item was a request for Stop Signs at the intersection of 1 lth Street N.E. and East
Hickory Street, stopping North and South bound traffic on 1 It' N.E. at Hickory. A resident of
the area requested these signs due to this being an open, uncontrolled intersection and she said
she had witnessed vehicles almost collide several times in the past.
Charles Thompson made a motion to place the Stop Signs as requested. Ed Ellis seconded and
the motion carried 6 ayes to 0 nays.
The last item for consideration was a request for a Stop Sign at the intersection of West Neagle
and 4t'' Street S.W. stopping West bound traffic on Neagle at 4th S.W. This request came from
B.A. Huddleston, Director of Public Works for the City of Paris, and was based on reports he had
from his crewmen concerning this intersection.
After discussion Rickey Mackey made a motion to place the signs as requested. Mary Lane

The Traffic Commission met in regular session Tuesday, June 2, 1998 with the following
members present:
1. Cleo Holmes 4. Pam Campbell
2. Mary Lane 5. Kenneth Webb
3. Charles Thompson
The city staff was represented by Assistant Police Chief James Barnett.
The meeting was called to order at 5:35 P.M., when a Quarum was present, by Assistant Chief
James Barnett since the Chairman and Co- Chairman we not present.
Consideration was given to placing Stop Signs at the following locations:
1. Lewis Lane at Stone Avenue, stopping Northbound traffic on Lewis Lane at Stone Avenue.
2. 12' N.E. and Johnson Street, stopping Westbound traffic on Johnson at 12th N.E.
3. 17th N.E. and Johnson Street, stopping Eastbound traffic on Johnson at 17th N.E.
4.4 th S.W. and Parr Avenue, stopping East and West bound traffic on Parr at 41 S.W.
After discussion Charles Thompson made a motion to combine all the requests and to
recommend the Stop Signs be placed as requested and recommended by the staff. Mary Lane
seconded and the motion carried 5 ayes to 0 nays.
There being no further bus' ess the meeting adjourned at 5:40 P.M.

The Traffic Commission met in regular session, Tuesday, October 6, 1998 with the
following members present:
1. Edward Ellis 4. Mary Lane
2. Rickey Mackey 5. George Robinson
3. Kenneth Webb 6. Cleo Holmes
The city staff was represented by Assistant Police Chief James Barnett.
Chairman George Robinson called the meeting to order at 5:20 P.M. when a Quarum was
present.
The Minutes of previous meetings were approved as submitted.
Members Mary Lane, Rickey Mackey and George Robinson were sworn it by City
Attorney Scott Foster, since they had recently been re- appointed.
An election was held for Chairman. Ed Ellis nominated George Robinson to continue
serving as Chairman. Kenneth Webb seconded the motion. There being no more
nominations a vote was held and the motion passed 6 ayes to 0 nays.
Next and election was held for Co- Chair. Ed Ellis nominated Kennth Webb and this
motion was seconded by Mary Lane. There being no further nominations a vote was held
and this motion passed 6 ayes to 0 nays.
The first items for consideration were the placing of Stop Signs at the following locations:
1. Neathery and 17 " Street S.E. stopping East and West bound traffic on Neathery.
2. Silverleaf and Fair Oaks, stopping South bound traffic on Silverleaf.
3. Silverleaf and Aspen, stopping North bound traffic on Silverleaf.
4. Oak Creek and 30th Street N.E., stopping North bound traffic on 30' N.E.
After discussion Ed Ellis made a motion to combine the requests and approve them as
requested. Mary Lane seconded and the motion passed 6 ayes to 0 nays.
The next item of business was a request for a 20 MPH School Speed Zone on 6 " Street N.E.,
starting 200 feet South of the South curb line of Martin Luther King Drive to the North to
the South curb line of Williams Street.

Assistant Chief Barnett explained this request came from a Police Officer who works the
school zones and since some changes have been made in the design of the campus at T.G.
Givens School students now are entering and leaving on the 6t' Street side of the building a
slower speed would improve the safety of the students.
After discussion Rickey Mackey made a motion to recommend the School Zone as
requested. Mary Lane seconded and the motion passed 6 ayes to 0 nays.
During this meeting it was announced by Assistant Chief Barnett that Pamela Campbell
had resigned from the Commission.
