Meeting Minutes
January 22, 2014
Opening:
The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order at 4:05 p.m.
Present:
Pat Books, Connie Dodd, Fran Neeley, Ann Norment, Linda Vandiver, and director Priscilla
McAnally were present. Absent were Judith Kimbrough and Alice Woodard.
I. Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as presented.
II. New Business:
Upcoming programs:
A beginner's knitting class will be offered starting Monday, February 3 from
2 to 4 p.m. It will last for six weeks. Linda Johnson is the instructor.
Beginning Tuesday, February 11 and going through Tuesday, March 11
Dr. Alice Woodard will be leading a short fiction discussion group starting at
6:30 p.m.
Both classes will be held in the library's Gallery meeting room.
III. Old Business
We are currently working on the technical aspects of the Overdrive implementation.
It should be up on the website within the next week or two.
IV. Presentations
A. Budget Report:
No unusual expenditures
B. Statistical Report:
Circulation and visits were down. The library was closed for four days in December
— the Christmas holidays and two days due to no electrical power because of the ice
storm. This may account for the some of the decrease.
V. Friends of the Library
No report
VI. Director's Remarks:
The "Grand Opening" of the library's Cancer Resource Center will be Tuesday,
February 3 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. The resource center is the community service project
of Crockett Middle School student Madeline Petrikas. She has secured the literature that
will be available as well as the display unit itself.
The next meeting will be February 19.
