A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
TEXAS; APPROVING AN APPLICATION FOR A WASTEWATER
FACILITIES PLANNING PROGRAM GRANT WITH THE TEXAS
WATER DEVELOPMENT BOARD; THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF THE
GRANT IS EXPECTED TO BE $150,000.00 WITH A CASH MATCH
FROM THE CITY TOTALING $75,000.00 AND /OR IN -KIND SERVICES;
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS
NECESSARY FOR FILING APPLICATION OF SAID GRANT; MAKING
OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVSIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT;
AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Paris, Texas will file an application with the Texas Water
Development Board (TWDB) to secure financial assistance for planning the regional facilities
for the City of Paris sponsored regional project; and,
WHEREAS, the existing wastewater treatment facility requires an evaluation of
improvements to extend service life to the City of Paris and other potential regional parties; and,
WHEREAS, a cooperative effort to bring together regional participants for the City of
Paris sponsored regional project will facilitate a review of existing wastewater treatment
facilities and project loading rates and flows from each regional party; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Paris has the authority to plan, implement, and operate
wastewater treatment facilities within the planning area of the application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things
approved.
Section 2. That the City of Paris intends to commit up to $75,000 (SEVENTY FIVE
THOUSAND DOLLARS) in local matching funds in cash and/or in kind services to perform
the planning study.
Section 3. That the City Council directs and designates Doug Harris, Director of
Utilities, as the authorized representative of the City of Paris to act in all matters in connection
with this application and the City's participation in wastewater facilities planning program grant
with the Texas Water Development Board.
