Item No. 21
memorandum
TO: Mayor & City Council
John Godwin, City Manager
FROM: LaVonne Schepis, Public Works
SUBJECT: Stillhouse Road Landfill Closure Remediation Bids
DATE: February 12, 2015
BACKGROUND: As we have previously reported, the old landfill on Stillhouse Road is in poor
condition and has been the subject of recent failed inspections. State and federal laws require a
series of ongoing maintenance tasks that have not been consistently performed. As a result the
City of Paris Public Works Department initiated the bid process for the Stillhouse Road Landfill
Closure Remediation project.
STATUS OF ISSUE: The City of Paris Public Works Department received one sealed bid for
the Stillhouse Road Landfill Closure Remediation project and would like to award bid
accordingly. The vendor is qualified and experienced, and the bid price is consistent with our
estimate.
BUDGET: This is an unbudgeted project, but we must move forward with the remediation using
General Fund reserves.
RECOMMENDATION: Award bid to Weaver Boos Consultants LLC as indicated on the
attached bid tab, in the amount of $85,800.
