SUBJECT: UTILITIES BONDS

BACKGROUND: To date we have awarded contracts on two constructions bids. One sub-
project is complete and the other is on- going. We currently have two more bids under
preparation. The very large one we have discussed, totaling probably over $20 million should be
bid in April, with hopes that construction will begin this summer. A second, smaller project will
be bid later this year and include improvements to the southeast lift station.
STATUS OF ISSUE: Dr. Hashmi recently discussed with me the possibility of peeling off a few
important lines from the large project so they can proceed a little bit more quickly. We do still
have time to separate the sub - projects again, as they have not been finally packaged yet.
However, we do need to make a decision on any more changes now or run the risk of causing
delays and /or increasing engineering costs.
Should the council wish to pull a few streets off for one more small sub - project, we suggest 29th,
30th, 31st, 32"d, and 33rd Streets NW between Bonham and Graham, plus Bonham between 13th
NW and 34th NW.
BUDGET: NA.
RECOMMENDATION: Provide direction to staff.
