ELECTRICAL BOARD
FEBRUARY 8, 1988
The Electrical Board of the City of Paris met Monday, February 8, 1988,
at 6:00 P.M. in the Conference Room, City Hall Annex, 150 S.E. 1st
Street, Paris, Texas.
Board Members present were George Crane, Bryan Hargis and Hayden
Stripland and City Electrical Inspector Horace R. Shires.
Guests present were James Hanson, Rick Hundley, Ronald Green and Bill
Adams.
The Board elected George Crane as chairman and Bryan Hargis as
Secretary.
The matter of Journeyman and Contractor's Licenses was discussed and
Mr. Crane made a motion to require proof of four years experience with
an Electrical Contractor before a person can take the journeyman's test
and before a person can take the contractor's test, he must have held
a journeyman's license for four years. The motion was seconded by Mr.
Hargis and carried 4 ayes, 0 nays.
Mr. Stripland made a motion that all electrical fees be as follows:
(1) Service (Minimum Permit Fee) $10.00
(In addition to the $10.00 service charge, there shall be an
additional fee of $.20 for each outlet including wall switches.)
(2) Electrical ranges:
Old residences 2.00
New residences 1.00
(3) Hot water heaters:
Old residences 2.00
New residences 1.00
(4) Electrical and neon signs 2.00
(5) Electrical Motors:
1/3 hp or less .20
Over 1/3 hp but not exceeding 5 hp 2.00
For each hp in excess of 5 hp .20
(6) Picture Machines 2.00
(7) Decorative Window Lighting 2.00
(8) For inspection of any installation, device or
equipment not specified above, the electrical
inspector shall charge a fee of $10.00, provided
however, that there shall be no fee for a permit
covering not more than three (3) wall outlets.
(9) There is hereby established a minimum electrical
permit fee of $10.00, provided, however that there
shall be no fee for a permit covering not more than
three (3) wall outlets.
(10) Dryers:
Old residences 2.00
New residences 1.00
(11) Air conditioning units 2.00
Mr. Hargis seconded the motion which carried 4 ayes, 0 nays.
License Fees were discussed next and Mr. Hargis made a motion to
increase initial fee for Contractor's License to $150.00 with annual
renewal fee of $50.00 and to require the $1,000. Bond required to
expire on same date as License, June 30, of each year and require that
Contractors have a current Bond in order to hold a Contractor's
License. Mr. Crane seconded the motion which carried 4 ayes, 0 nays.
Mr. Crane made a motion that City send Sign Contractors and Heating and
Air Conditioning Contractors a letter informing them of the
consequences of wiring in the City without license or permit. Mr.
Stripland seconded the motion which carried 4 ayes, 0 nays.
Mr. Crane then made a motion to adjourn meeting, seconded by Mr.
Stripland which carried 4 ayes, 0 nays.
The next meeting was set for April or sooner if needed to meet with
Dallas Electrical Board Members.
It was noted that Dale Maberry and Bob Crawford had failed their recent
test for Contractor's License.
